Assembly:
Remove the parts carefully from the packing, taking care not
n
to lose the fittings.
Do not connect the solar panel to the light until in position.
n

Installation:

Avoid other light sources which may interfere with the night
n
sensor.
The light is intended for indoor use so the solar panel must be
n
within cable reach of the light assembly.
When the panel and light positions have been decided, they
n
should be fixed in place using the sticky pads (one big one for
the solar panel and two small ones for the light) or the screws
and plugs provided. Ensure that the panel is angled towards
the sun.
Connect the cable to the light unit.
n

Maintenance:

If solar panels get dirty, the charging capacity will be
n
reduced. Clean panels occasionally with a damp cloth – avoid
harsh detergents or solvents as these can damage the panel.
The sensor may also be cleaned in this way to
n
ensure effectiveness.
Batteries can be given a temporary boost in a battery charger
n
if there has been limited sun or extra light is needed for a
special occasion. The batteries are housed under the light
unit and can be accessed by removing the two screws holding
the light back panel in place.
Batteries may need replacing after 1-2 years, depending
n
on the conditions they have had to endure. The batteries are
housed at the back of the light assembly and can be easily
accessed by removing the sliding cover.
The batteries (3 x AA) can be replaced with any 1.2v
n
rechargeable ones available in retail outlets: choose a low
power output (mAh). Gardman replacement batteries are
ideal for the purpose.
Low winter light levels or harsh weather in your locality
n
may lead you to decide to store your solar lights indoors
until conditions improve. If so, clean and dry the lights and
remove the batteries: store in a dry spot and reassemble in
spring as described in 'installation'.

Troubleshooting:

If your solar light does not operate properly at night it may
be caused by one of the following:
Ensure the switch, if present, is in the on position and
n
any battery tabs removed.
Low light levels caused by the position of the solar panel,
n
lack of sunlight or short daylight hours will reduce the light
intensity and duration.
Other lighting can interfere with a solar light or even
n
prevent it operating.
Check that there are no breaks in the wiring and that the
n
connections are secure.
Check the batteries in case they need replacing: see
n
'maintenance' above.
