Electrical connections
Do not exceed the maximum excitation voltage of 15V, for the best results,
use the sense wires. If unused these wires should be connected to the
excitation wires and not left open circuit.
Mechanical fixing
Ensure that the base to which this cell is to be bolted is flat and rigid. Use
high tensile bolts grade 8.8 or better; tighten to a torque of 7Nm. The bolts are
M6 x 1, the tapped holes in the cell body are 10mm deep. Do not use a ratchet
or 'click-stop' torque spanner on the 2kg cell.
Note: It is recommended that over and under load stops are provided to
prevent damage to the cell. The 2kg cell has these stops built in, while
in the 20kg cell the base of the cell is machined so that it will deflect
and touch any flat base at rated load. Using a flat rigid base will
therefore provide overload protection. An extra M6 x 1 is provided in
the base for an underload stop. A mechanical stop should be provided
with a no-load clearance of 0.5mm so that the load face of the cell can
only be raised by 0.5mm.
