WARNING
Projectile hazards
– Always wear impact-resistant eye and face protection when
involved with or near the operation, repair or maintenance of
the motor or changing accessories on the motor.
– Be sure all others in the area are wearing impact-resistant eye
and face protection. Even small projectiles can injure eyes and
cause blindness.
– Ensure the workpiece is securely fixed.
WARNING
Operating hazards
– Clamp the motor securely.
– Ensure the motor is at a complete stop before removing work.
– Always fit start, stop and emergency stop controls to the ma-
chine into which the motor/torque motor is incorporated.
WARNING
Noise hazards
– High sound levels can cause permanent hearing loss and other
problems such as tinnitus. Use hearing protection as recommen-
ded by your employer or occupational health and safety regu-
lations.
– To prevent unnecessary increases in noise levels operate and
maintain the motor, and select, maintain and replace the ac-
cessories and consumables, in accordance with this instruction
manual.
WARNING
Workplace hazards
– Slip/Trip/Fall is a major cause of serious injury or death. Be
aware of excess hose left on the walking or work surface.
– Avoid inhaling dust or fumes or handling debris from the work
process which can cause ill health (for example, cancer, birth
defects, asthma and/or dermatitis). Use dust extraction and
wear respiratory protective equipment when working with
materials which produce airborne particles.
– Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling
and other construction activities contains chemicals known to
the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals
are:
– Crystalline silica bricks and cement and other masonry
products
– Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated rubber
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often
you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these
chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with ap-
proved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are specially
designed to filter out microscopic particles.
EN
– Proceed with care in unfamiliar surroundings. Be aware of
potential hazards created by your work activity. This motor is
not insulated from coming into contact with electric power
sources.
DO NOT DISCARD – GIVE TO USER
Signs and stickers
The product is fitted with signs and stickers containing important
information about personal safety and product maintenance. The
signs and stickers shall always be easy to read. New signs and
stickers can be ordered by using the spare parts list.

Installation

Air quality
– For optimum performance and maximum machine life we re-
commend use of compressed air with a maximum dew point
of +10°C. Installation of a refrigeration-type air dryer is recom-
mended.
– Use a separate air filter to remove solid particles larger than
30 microns and more than 90 % of water, installed as close as
possible to the machine and prior to any other air preparation
unit. Blow out the hose before connecting.
– The compressed air must contain a small quantity of oil. We
strongly recommend that you install a oil-fog lubricator. This
should be set according to air consumption by the air line tool
according to the following formula:
L = Air consumption (litre/s).
(May be found in our sales literature).
D = Number of drops per min (1 drop = 15 mm
L* 0.2 = D
this applies to the use of long work cycle air line tools. A single
point lubricator can also be used for tools with short running
cycles.
– For lubrication free motors it is an advantage if the compressed
air contains a small quantity of oil supplied from a fog lubric-
ator.
For further information please see Air Line Accessories in our
main catalogue.
Compressed air connection
– The machine is designed for a working pressure (e) of 6–7 bar
= 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.
– Blow out the hose before connecting.
– Recommended inlet hose size is 8 mm (5/16'').
Connecting the air supply
When the compressed air supply is connected to the inlet, the dir-
ection of rotation will be as shown in the figure below. If the ex-
haust air is to be piped away, a hose should be connected to the
exhaust outlet.
