• Before use, check the measuring cables and the measuring device for any damage. Have any
damage repaired and replace defective cables before using the device.
• Take special care when handling voltages higher than AC 25 V (root-mean-square value) or
DC 35 V
. There is a risk of electric shock when handling devices with these voltages.
• Discharge all capacitors and disconnect the test object from the mains grid before testing
diodes, resistors or circuit continuity.
• This CAT II measuring device must not be used for building installations (sockets, distributors,
cables, etc.). You may only use it to take measurements on electrical circuits connected to
the low-voltage grid (household appliances, portable tools etc.).
• If the device is used for a purpose not specified by the manufacturer, the function of the
protective components incorporated in the device may be impaired.
• This device is not a toy and must be kept away from children.
It contains dangerous objects and small parts; always make sure that these are not swallo-
wed by children. If a child has swallowed a part of this device, contact a doctor immediately.
• Do not leave batteries or packaging material lying around unattended. These can put children
at risk if used as a toy.
• If you do not plan to use the device for a longer period of time, remove the battery to prevent
it from leaking.
• Old or damaged batteries can cause chemical burns to your skin.
In such cases, always use protective gloves.
• Make sure that batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw batteries into a fire.
• A correct display is only guaranteed for temperatures between 0 °C and +40 °C and for
frequencies from 40 Hz to 400 Hz.
• The clarity of the display may be impaired by unfavourable lighting (e.g. sunlight), unfavourab-
le locations (e.g. wooden step ladders or insulating floor covering), or by improperly grounded
AC grids.
• Never exceed the maximum permitted input values for current and voltage.
• TAKE SPECIAL CARE when handling high voltages.
• DO NOT measure the voltage at the "COM" input socket if the voltage is higher than 250 V
above earth connection.
• NEVER connect the measuring cables to a voltage source if the function selection switch is
set to current, resistor or diode test.
Not following these instructions can result in damage to the measuring device.
• ALWAYS discharge the filter capacitors in the power supplies and disconnect the voltage
source if you want to measure resistance or test diodes.
• ALWAYS disconnect the power and remove the measuring cables before opening the cover
to change the fuse or battery.
• NEVER use the measuring device unless you have safely locked the cover on the back of the
device again.
