Converter module RS232/RS485 (external and internal), Installation Instructions
Operation of the converter module RS232/RS485 (Part No. SC00041 external / SC00042 internal) requires full understanding and strict
observance of the Instructions for Use of the Dräger REGARD 24X0 (9033025) / Dräger RailGard (9023818) and Dräger RVP 2400
(9033026) !
INTENDED USE
The converter module RS232/485 is needed for the communication of
1-5 Dräger REGARD 24X0 or Dräger RailGard control units with the
visualisation panel Dräger RVP 2400.
NOTE: Each control unit needs its own RS232/RS485 converter module.
Installing the Converter module SC00041 (external)
The Converter module is designed for DIN rail mounting.
Regarding the RS232 cable length the converter module has to be
mounted beside of the REGARD 2410/RailGard-Sx/-W6 control unit.
Installing the electrical connections SC00041 (external)
- Installation has to be carried out powerless!
- connect the visualisation panel Dräger RVP 2400 to the
converter module with the terminals A/B/COM (RS485 output).
Standard RS485 cable:
orange/white wire: RJ45 plug PIN 1 → converter terminal A
orange wire: RJ45 plug PIN 2 → converter terminal B
green wire: RJ45 plug PIN 6 → converter terminal COM
- connect the RS232 cable with the REGARD 2410/RailGard
control unit (plug on top of the front panel).
- connect the power supply to the terminals 24V/GRND/0V.
Installing the Converter module SC00042 (internal)
including eletrical connections
The converter module is designed for the internal mounting into
REGARD 2400 / RailGard-W1 control units.
Installation has to be carried out powerless!
-
- Open the terminal box of the REGARD 2400/RailGard-W1.
- Demount the front panel and fix the converter with the 2 provided screws
onto the left bottom side. Connect the power supply cable with the mainboard.
- Put the RS232 cable outside of the unit and close the front panel. Fix the
front panel with the 4 screws.
- Connect the plug of the RS232 cable with the socket on the front panel.
- Connect the visualisation panel Dräger RVP 2400 to the
converter module with the terminals A/B/COM (RS485 output).
Standard RS485 cable:
orange/white wire: RJ45 plug PIN 1 → converter terminal A
orange wire: RJ45 plug PIN 2 → converter terminal B
green wire: RJ45 plug PIN 6 → converter terminal COM
- Close the terminal box and fix it with the 2 screws.
