Btx is the abbreviation for the German word "J!ild-
schirm Iel[t", (VIEW DAT A, PRESTEL), and is the new
medium, which is transmitted via the telephone net-
work of the post-office. Around the c/ock it is possible
to get in touch for a dialog with the Btx-terminal and
other participants.
All you need for this is
a
modem, the connection
module of the post-office,
a
decoder,
a
colour-TV
receiver and
an
input keyboard.
But first of all, please don't get in panic because of so
much technology. Btx is really very simple.
Anybody who masters the following explained
functions will always be able to handle the situation,
fast and safe for all Btx-programmes.
Before first switch-on
Make sure to position your colour-TV receiver so that a
minimum of light strikes the screen.
Connect the Btx-decoder to the mains socket (220 v/
AC). Use the enclosed thin cable to connect the "post-
office-modem" with the socket

er. In case a connection to the socket D 1200 S is
required, it is necessary to have the socket

fitted to
the decoder by your dealer. Connect the "EURO-
standard" (SCART -socket)

of the Btx-decoder to the
identical socket of the TV receiver with the enclosed
cable.
In case, that the connecting socket of your TV-receiver
is already occupied by a video-unit e. g. video-recorder,
we recommend to apply an AV-mixer.
Place battery (6 F 22) into the battery box of the Btx
infrared remote contra I unit.
Preparation
Before the operation with the Btx-infrared remote con-
trol can begin, switch-on the TV-receiver and the Btx-
decoder with key
CD.
Thereafter press key

Now the
status line on the bottom of the screen will indicate the.
"brand name".

Note: always hold the infrared-control in the direction of
the Btx-decoder in order to optimise data transmission.

For most favourable and flicker free Btx-reception it is
essential, that
a) the TV receiver is set to an AV-programme-place, and
b) no TV-transmitter is stored at this programme-place.
