Driver Installation

• Insert the CD provided in the appropriate drive on your computer. If the installation does not
start automatically, open the CD e.g. with Windows file manager and start the installation pro-
gram manually (e.g. „setup.exe").
• Follow all of the instructions. During the installation the display may flicker a few times, this is
normal.
• Thereafter, the driver installation is complete.
• The drivers can be installed on every computer that is to have access to the network graphics
card.
Connection and Start-up
Install the driver first, if you have not yet done this, see chapter „Driver
Installation".
• A digital monitor can be connected to the DVI jack. Alternatively, you can connect a conven-
tional analogue VGA monitor to the network graphics card using a suitable DVI-VGA-adapter
(not included in the delivery).
• Connect the network connector on the network graphics card to a free port on your network
router /switch.
• Connect the round plug from the wall plug transformer to the low voltage connector on the net-
work graphics card. Then plug the wall plug transformer in to a mains socket. The red Power
LED lights up. The second LED (green) lights up when a network connection is established,
during data transfer it blinks.
• Start the software. There should be a new shortcut on the desktop, named „Launch
Cat5ShareStation.exe" (for newer versions of the software, the name might be different).
If a Windows security warning appears, this is a message from the internal firewall. There
www.conrad.com
might also be a warning message from your antivirus software, informing you that an applica-
tion requires access to the network.
Version 10/09
°
• In the software's window you should now see the network graphics card.
Using the „Search" function, you can search for the network graphics card over the network.
You can access the internal web server on the network graphics card via the „Config" button,
for instance, in order to set the IP address (the default is DHCP, i. e. the network graphics card
obtains the required IP address automatically from a DHCP server in your network). To access
the configuration, click on the row above (in above figure „DoIP-46B88D ......").
„Device Status": Requests diverse information
„Network": Sets the IP address
„Firmware update": Installs new firmware (if a password was assigned (see below), this pass-
word must be entered before the update)
„Reset Device": Resets the network graphics card (Reset); alternatively, briefly disconnect the
network graphics card from the power supply
„Factory Default": Restores the factory default settings
„Password Change": Sets/activates or changes the password (there is no password assigned
as default); the password is required later on e.g. for a reset or for a firmware update
• Exit the network graphics card's web server.
• Click on „Generic DoIP".
With „Search" you can search ,for other available network graphics cards in your network.
Click on „Connect", to establish a connection with the selected network graphics card.
During the initial connection, new hardware might be recognised („DVI over Ethernet"). For this
however, the monitor must already be connected to the network graphics card.
• You can set up the network graphics card via the monitor properties (right mouse click on desk-
top and select the corresponding menu item).
It is possible to extend the display (to use the monitor connected to the network graphics card
as an additional surface for your desktop); the same picture can also be displayed (e.g. if you
wish to also display the picture on your first monitor via a video projector for presentation pur-
poses by means of the network graphics card).
You have to allow access to the network, otherwise it will not be possible to con-
nect to the network graphics card later on!
