Setup location
• Insert the light with the stand into an even and sufficiently resistant surface (e.g. lawns or
beds). A stony surface can damage the stand. Make sure that the stand is firm in the ground
and cannot topple over.
• The more sunlight that falls onto the solar module, the more complete the rechargeable
battery charge will be. To allow the rechargeable battery to be charged sufficiently, the
product must be placed so that it is exposed to direct sunlight for as long as possible. Ensure
that the product is not covered or shaded.
• Do not place the product next to other light sources, e.g. patio or street lights, as this may
prevent the product from turning on automatically in the dark.
• The product is suitable for use in unprotected outdoor areas. However, the product must
never be used in or under water.
• The product switches on automatically at dusk. As soon as a certain brightness is reached,
the product turns off.
Important notes
• The power of the solar panel varies according to the time of year and depends on the duration
and strength of the sunlight. Long periods without sufficient solar radiation (especially in
winter) can lower the charge state of the battery, thus not allowing long lit periods. The
rechargeable battery stores less energy during the day than it consumes at night. Thus, the
lighting duration is inevitably reduced. This may damage the battery as a result of it becoming
completely discharged. Therefore, remove the battery from the product in due time.
• Keep the product clean. Dust and dirt reduce the efficiency of the solar module, resulting in
a lower charging current.
• Cold temperatures have a negative impact on the battery life (the light stays on for a shorter
period at night). To prolong the lifespan of the product, store it in a dry, warm room during the
winter (or when you are not going to use it for an extended period). To do this, remove the
battery from the product.
• You can charge the battery with a battery charger before inserting it into the product. Always
follow the instructions in this manual when removing/replacing the rechargeable battery.
Removing/changing the battery
Change the battery as soon as the light ON time is significantly reduced, even
though the battery has sufficiently charged during the day.
Ensure that no liquids get inside the product when changing the rechargeable
battery.
• Remove the lamp head from the stand.
• Remove the metal cover (2) from the lamp head (1) by slightly turning the metal cover counter
clockwise. See the figure in "Operation".
• Open the battery compartment cover. Remove the rechargeable battery and replace it with
an identical battery (see technical data). Pay attention to correct polarity (+/-).
Never use a disposable non-rechargeable battery.
• Reattach the battery compartment cover and screw the metal cover clockwise onto the lamp
head.
• Then insert the socket beneath the metal cover into the stand.
Care and Cleaning
• Do not use abrasive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may
damage the casing or stop the product from functioning properly.
• Do not point water jets (e.g. from a high-pressure cleaner) at the light, since this could
damage the gaskets.
• The product does not require maintenance except for occasional cleaning.
• Allow the product to cool down sufficiently before cleaning.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the product. To remove stubborn dirt, moisten the
cloth slightly with lukewarm water.
• Do not press too hard on the housing as this can lead to scratch marks.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. Always dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
Remove the rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Batteries
You are required by law to return all used batteries (Battery Directive). Batteries
must not be placed in household waste.
Batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with this symbol to indicate
that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The abbreviations for heavy metals
in batteries are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (indicated on the battery,
e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used batteries can be returned to local collection points, our stores or battery retailers.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
