Pressure Probes
Application Information
General Information
Please read this document through carefully and
familiarise yourself with the operation of the pro-
duct before using it. Keep this document close
to hand for reference purposes.
Observe measurement ranges (max overload
limit), interface is switched off if overload limit is
exceeded.
Safety Information
WARNING! Magnetic field!
May be harmful to those with pacemakers.
> Keep a minimum distance of 15 cm between
pacemaker and instrument.
ATTENTION! Magnetic field!
Damage to other devices!
> Keep a safe distance away from products which
could be damaged by the effects of magnetism
(e.g. monitors, computers or credit cards).
Avoid danger from electricity:
Never measure with the instrument
and probes on or near live parts if the inst-
rument is not expressly approved for current/
voltage measurement.
Protect the instrument:
Never store the instrument together with sol-
vents (e.g. acetone).
Preserve product safety/warranty
claims:
The instrument should only be operated wit-
hin the parameters specified in the Technical
data.
The instrument should only be used as inst-
ructed.
Never use force.
The instrument should only be opened for
maintenance or servicing purposes if so inst-
ructed in the Instruction Manual.
Please note the following for reproducible
measurements with differential pressure
probes and in particular for adhering to the
accuracy ±3 Pa with the 10hPa probe:
Probe must be adapted to the ambient tem-
perature before the measurement starts!
A zero point adjustment (except 0638 1847)
must be carried out prior to the measure-
ment; the position of the pressure probe
should not be changed for the subsequent
measurement.
Avoid temperature changes during the mea-
surement.
Observe + and -.
Intended purpose
The instruments should only be used for the fol-
lowing applications:
The pressure probes have been specially
developed for use in air conditioning/ventilation
engineering, heating engineering, vehicle const-
ruction and industrial engineering.
The pressure probes function with a differential
pressure probe according to the piezoresistive
principle.
Connecting the probes
The pressure inputs are marked with + and -.
Ensure that the higher pressure is applied to
the + input in order to achieve the best possib-
le accuracy. Higher pressure at + results in a
en
positive pressure display; higher pressure at -
results in a negative pressure display.
Connecting the cable
Screw the cable (0430 0143 or 0430 0145)
onto the pressure probe thread (not 0638 1835:
cable permanently connected). Connect the
cable to the hand-held instrument.
Application
Place the connected pressure probe in its posi-
tion of use prior to the measurement starting.
We recommend the magnetic holder or the
suspension unit for this purpose. For reprodu-
cible measurements, a zero-point adjustment
should be carried out prior to the measurement,
the position of the pressure probe should not
be changed for the subsequent measurement
(except pressure probe 0638 1347).
A zero-point adjustment is not possible for
measurements with the absolute pressure
probes (0638 1847, 0638 1835). The pressure
probes are adjusted in the factory.

Dependency on position
Changes in the position and temperature of the
instrument and pressure probes influence the
measurement result. The instrument and probes
should be placed in a stable position prior to
the measurement. Do not change this position
during the measurement. Ensure that the pres-
sure probe is not subjected to vibrations.
Maintenance
The pressure probes are maintenance-free.
Clean the housing with a damp cloth.
Never use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
Ensure that no moisture enters the connection
nipple of the pressure probe.
