JUMPFLEX Series 857
Isolation amplifier, configurable
857-400
Before installation and operation, please read the following instructions thoroughly and carefully.
1. Safety information
1.1 General information
The following points are to be observed:
- the applicable laws, standards and regulations
- the state of the art at the time of installation
- the operating instructions
- the engineering regulations
- the fact that operating instructions can only mention general regulations and that these must be
observed
- observe the max. admissible conductor cross-sections, stripped lengths and only use original
accessories
- insert the conductor up to the stop
Before start up, please check the device for any damage that may have occurred during transport. The device
must not be operated in case of mechanical damage. Read the operating instructions carefully and observe
both the technical information and the applicable regulations of your country.
The devices described in these instruction leaflets must only be installed by a qualified electrician and must
only be installed in electrical switchgear or in sealed enclosures.
Improper use or failure to follow this application note will render the warranty or guarantee null and void.
The devices must only be installed in dry indoor areas.
Do not install the devices on or in the vicinity of easily inflammable materials
2. Short description
The configurable isolation amplifier is used to convert, amplify, filter and electrically isolate analog standard
signals. The device has a 3-way isolation with a test voltage of 2.5kV.
On the input and output side, the following signals can be configured via DIP switches that are accessible from
the side of the housing: 0...10V, 2...10V, 0...20mA, 4...20mA, 0...5V and 1...5V.
The device is supplied with 24VDC, which can be commoned using lateral push-in type jumper bars in a quick
and cost effective way.
3. Installation
Cables must only be connected with the power off!
Caution: Take protective measures against electrostatic discharge (ESD) when operating the
modules.
The devices are snapped onto the
EN60715
rail without using any tools. For example, a screwdriver can be
used to unlock the snap-in mounting foot and remove the device from the carrier rail.
Potentials can be commoned using 859 Series 2- to 10-way push-in type jumper bars (see accessories). The
jumpers must be inserted prior to connecting the cables so that easy installation is possible. Push down the
jumpers until fully inserted (see installation notes).
If the modules are snapped on in an alternating order, istall a seperator plate (item no. 209-191) for safe
separation between two adjacent terminal blocks.
End stops (WAGO
249-116
) must be mounted at the ends of a module assembly.
Observe the max. admissible conductor cross-sections of the signal and power cables.
4. Zero/span adjustment
Always use an insulated screwdriver when performing a zero/span adjustment (e.g. WAGO 210-619)
The zero/span potentiometers are used to adjust the output signal when analog signals are too low or too
high.
Example: A sensor, which is connected to the input of the isolation amplifier, delivers a analog signal of
maximum 9.7V. Using the zero/span potentiometer, the signal can be readjusted to 10.0V.
