Short Battery Life Time:
The following hints will prolong battery life time:
Place the solar module on a location and make sure direct sunlight will
illuminate on the solar module during the day. Please read the manual of the
solar module and observe the chapter "Alignment" to achieve best results.
Please note that long on-time of the LED will respectively consume more
energy and the battery pack will be spent more rapidly. The lamp is designed
for illuminating paths, entrance areas etc. for the length of time on which
people stay in this areas and need illumination. According to the conditions
you can reduce the on-time on the controller TIME. During parallel operation of
several lamps you have to adjust the controller TIME on all lamps to the same
position.
If you decide to interconnect an external switch, it is up to you to make sure
that the lamp is switched on when illumination is desired.
Do not adjust the motion detector to high sensitivity because it will already
activate on passing small pets or big insects and this will unnecessarily switch
on the lamp. Try out the adjustments on the controller SENS, until you achieve
best result for your application.
Please concern that the lamp is powered by solar energy. According to the
adjusted on-time, the lamp will not turn on if no or very less direct sunlight
shines on the solar module for several days. The intelligent charge technology
protects the battery pack from being completely discharged so that poor sunny
periods will be endured without any damage.
If the lamp does not function after long sunny days, the battery pack may be
defective. Replace the entire battery pack. Replacement battery packs can be
ordered from Westfalia.
Failures
Failures may occur in the vicinity of strong transmitter. Strong transmitters may be
e. g. amateur radio operator in your neighbourhood or antenna towers for mobile
telephone system or broadcast stations. In that case the lamp will occasionally
switch on although nobody is close to the lamp.
