2. Installation instructions

The installation (electrical work) and commis-
sioning as well as maintenance of this appli-
ance must be carried out only by an approved
qualified installer in accordance with these
instructions.
Only remove the packaging of the unit and
accessories at the place of installation, taking
note of the additional package.
When unpacking, take care to ensure that no
accessories remain behind in the packaging
material.

The towel rail radiator is for wall mounting only.
The appliance is ready for installation. The
heat-transfer-liquid, a water-glycol-mixture, will
be heated up by the heating element.
The electrical connection is by means of mains
plug.
With a protection level of IP 24 (splash proof),
the radiator can be installed where space is
restricted (take note of the information on
the protection range in 2.2 below).
Check whether . . .
. . . the ON/OFF button (1) is switched on.
. . . the appropriate fuse in your fuse box has been connected or the residual current circuit breaker has
been switched off.
Remove the cause!
If the heater still does not warm up, call a qualified installer.
Switch the radiator off and then on:
– the LED indicator "appliance heating up" flashes 3 times, the measuring probe is damaged.
Call a qualified installer.
– the LED indicator "appliance heating up" flashes 5 times, the mains voltage to the appliance is too high.
Switch the heating element off. Call a qualified installer.
Switch off the unit and pull out the supply plug!
Call a qualified installer or service technican!
Inform the service technician about the
type of unit (Typ) and it's number (Nr.)
that is found on the rating plate (20)!

2.2 Instructions and regulations

The appliance must not:
– Be operated in areas which are subject
to the risk of fire or explosion due to
chemicals, dust, gases or vapours;
– Be operated in the immediate vicinity of
pipes or containers which carry or con-
tain combustible or potentially explosive
substances;
– Be operated, at less as the minimum
clearance distances advised.
In workshops or other areas in which the
odour of waste gases, oil, petrol, etc. might
occur, or in which work is carried out in-
volving solvents and chemicals, there is a
risk of sustained odour burdens being en-
gendered, and possibly of dirt contamination
occurring.
• The appliance should only be installed on a
vertical wall resistant to temperatures above
90 °C
• The installation wall must have sufficient
load-bearing capacity (appliance weight, see
"Specifications").
• Observe the minimum distances from ad-
joining surfaces of objects.
• The appliance should not be installed im-
mediately below a wall socket.
• All electrical connection and installation
work must be carried out in accordance
with the VDE regulations (0100), the regula-
tions of the competent water and electricity
supply companies as well as the appropriate
national and regional regulations.
• Follow the rating plate. The stated voltage
must be in accordance with the mains voltage.
• If the heating unit is installed in rooms with
a bath and/or a shower, the range of pro-
tection according to the I.E.E. Regulations- in
Typ: BH. . . . .
conformity with the information on the unit
rating plate - must be taken into account.
• The unit is to be fitted in such a way that
switching and control devices cannot be
touched by anyone in the bath or under the
shower.
• If it needs replacing, the power supply ca-
ble must only be replaced with an original
Stiebel Eltron spare by a qualified installer.

2.3 Installation

BHE 75
_ Take the dimensions for drill holes from the
illustration of the BHE, depending on the
customer's existing water connections, and
mark out on a wall with sufficient load-bear-
ing capacity. Observe minimum distances!
_ Install wall distance pipe (12) with enclosed
raw plugs Ø8 mm (19) and screws 5 x 40
(13) depending on the construction of the
wall.
_ Push the spacers (11) into the wall distance
pipe and screw into position with the ad-
justing screw M4 x 10 (10) (do not tighten).
_ Position the radiator with the two upper
cross-pipes on the upper spacers and secure
in position on the spacers by means of the
clamp (12) (M5 x 30 screw, 13). Then fix at
the bottom in the same way as at the top.
_ Line up the radiator (push spacers into wall
bushes), tighten the adjusting screws in the
wall bushes at the top and put caps (14) on
the clamps.
_ Plug in the mains plug (18).

_ Determine the dimensions of drill-holes
according to the fixing bolts (19) or deter-
mine it from the dimensional drawing of the
BHC-L and mark it on a sufficient load-car-
