Please refer to the product information on page 16, catalogue
information or your dealer to confirm which clock model you
own or which features your clock has.
In the unlikely event of problems during setup or normal
operation that cannot be resolved by following the instructions
in this brochure, please contact your dealer or the Kieninger
service department. When contacting your dealer or Kieninger,
please have all product information available.
1.

Selecting a location

When selecting a location for your clock the following criteria
should be observed:
{ Select a location where the clock can be set up level and
securely.
{ Locations with direct sun light, close to radiators or other
heat sources and/or draught should be avoided.
2.

Unpacking and hanging the clock

2.1 Unpacking the clock

Your Kieninger clock leaves our factory in a solid shipping
carton. Other than the clock this shipping carton contains
various accessories, which should be taken out first:
{ clock pendulum (packaged in a separate cardboard box)
{ styrofoam box with the weight
{ cable pulley
{ crank key
{ suede bag for crank key
{ capped hex nut & washer
{ cotton gloves
{ stud screw - suitable for all kinds of materials (concrete,
solid bricks, perforated bricks, hollow blocks, aircrete and
wood) & dowel M10
Kieninger recommends that you save the packaging material
for future use when relocating or moving.
Remove the clock (depending on size of the clock best with 2
persons) from its packaging and place it close to its final
location. Ensure that the clock is positioned securely. Remove
all silk papers, foils and/or adhesive tapes carefully.
To perform the following steps, Kieninger suggests wearing
the enclosed cotton gloves or using a soft, dry cloth when
handling parts.

2.2 Hanging and Positioning the clock

Your clock requires one mounting point. In any case an
adequate, safe and stable mounting of the clock has to be
ensured.
Drill a sufficiently deep 10mm hole and insert the dowel. Screw
in the stud screw up to the hex section (Torx key T25 oder
open-ended spanner size 6). Hang the clock on the threaded
stud (Attention, do not damage thread) and secure it with the
capped hex nut and the washer. The capped hex nut may be
thightend manually only, to avoid any tension in the case.
Once hanging in place use a water-level to ensure that the
clock is hanging level.
After the clock is level the tilt needs to be adjusted and set. On
the corner points of the backside of the case there are four (4)
levellers that can be screwed in or out to make the neccessay
adjustments.

2.3 Hanging the pendulum

Remove the pendulum from its box.
First check the suspension spring. If it is damaged or bent, it
must be replaced.
While stabilizing the suspension spring with one hand carefully
hang the pendulum on the suspension spring pin (see picture
1 - page 8).

Instruction manual

2.4 Mounting the movement

As the next step carefully and evenly without tilting slide the
movement over the four (4) case mounted pillars. The spring
lock mechanism on the back plate has to be opened during
this step. The movemet is fixed with a „key hole system"
between pillars and back movement plate (see picture 2 -
page 8).
When mounting the movement make sure the pendulum rod
engages between the pins of the pendulum leader. The
movement is secured after releasing the spring lock
mechanism.

2.5 Mounting cable pulley and weight

When the clock is delivered the cable, the cable pulley and the
weight are not mounted. Warning: The cable winding stops are
preadjusted - any winding without inserted cable and/or
attached weight will erase this preadjustment.
Initially it has to be checked that the angled, cranked cable
end engages correctly in the first groove of the cable drum
(see picture 3 - page 8). The loose cable end has to be
threaded through the upper yoke (thick upper pillar - thin lower
pillar for the weight hook) of the loose cable pulley and
inserted in the slot of the lower movement pillar (see picture 4
- page 8).
Now the weight can be attached and the clock be wound for
the first time (see chapter 5). While doing so note that the
cable cleanly runs in the groove of the cable drum.
To ensure a correct winding process of the cable the weight
has to attached.

3.1 Adjusting the beat

Your clock offers a manual beat adjustment. The correct beat
adjustment is of vital importance for the function of your clock.
The beat has been set in the factory - however minor
adjustments may be necessary after shipping and hanging the
clock.
The second hand has to perform one step forward when
moving the pendulum equally far to the left or right (scale
marks on the pendlulum scale). If this is not the case, an
adjustment is necessary by turning the serrated srew on the
pendulum leader until the second step happens evenly (see
picture 5 - page 9).

3.2 Setting the correct time

Whenever adjusting or changing the time of your clock please
follow these instructions:
Let the clock run until the second hand reaches 60. Stop the
pendulum and set the minute hand to the correct or desired
time. Do so by slowly advancing the minute hand clockwise
(ie. forward).
Never turn the hour or second hands when setting the time.
The hour hand automatically follows when setting the time.
Both hands are fixed by friction or thread and loosening can
result in malfunctions and/or damage of your clock.
To start/restart your clock move the tip of pendulum sideways
until a tick can be heard - or (alternatively) the second hand
takes one step forward (The escapement wheel moves half a
pitch forward) - and then release it.
Switching to day light savings time or back to regular time is
done by moving the minute hand forward or backward one
hour.
If your clock gains or loses time after minimum 24 hours of
operation, see section 6 for instructions on how to regulate the
timekeeping of your clock by adjusting the pendulum.
