RWM MC
The Quick Reference Guide is not a substitute for the operating manual. It is essential
to read and observe the operating manual. This is available online at: pyrexx.com/de/
support/downloads. Please pay particular attention to the safety instructions and infor-
mation on the use and operation of smoke alarm devices and the RWM MC.
1.1 Scope of Quick Reference Guide
The Quick Reference Guide only applies
for diagnostic devices with the designation
RWM MC.
1.2 Name plate and identification
The name plate of the RWM MC can be
found on the rear side of the device beside
the battery compartment.
1.3 Conformity
The device of type RWM MC complies with
the specifications in the following directives:
• EMC Directive 2014/30/EU
• RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU
Conformity in accordance with EMC Di-
rective 2014/30/EU and RoHS Directive
2011/65/EU (CE)
The EU Conformity Declaration for the
RWM MC can be called up from the manu-
facturer using the following reference num-
ber: k_111276
1.4 Warranty
Pyrexx Technologies GmbH guarantees the
legal warranty for a period of 2 years.
• Please keep your receipt as a proof that
the device has been purchased from an
authorized retailer, and as a proof of
purchase date.
This receipt is mandatory for any warranty
claims!
2.1 Intended use
The device may only be used for the follo-
wing purposes:
• Extended maintenance of all devices
from the manufacturer by reading out
and diagnosis of device parameters
Note the following when using the RWM MC:
• Treat alarm and alert tones from the
smoke alarm device as a priority.
• Use the device only as intended and in a
technically perfect condition.
2.2 Unintended use
The device must not be used for the follo-
wing purposes:
• Any use that is not expressly described
as permitted in the operating manual
2.3 Applicable documents
In addition to the operating manual for the
RWM MC, the operating manuals for the re-
spective smoke alarm devices are applicable
during the connections and reading of smo-
ke alarm devices with the RWM MC:
• Observe the operating manual for the
smoke alarm device.

2.4 General safety information
The basic safety information describes all
measures to ensure safety thematically and
apply at all times.
General information
The devices are subject to strict quality
controls during production. In addition, a
functional test is performed before delivery. Ne-
vertheless, unexpected malfunctions may occur.
External influences
External influences can cause malfunctions
and damage to the device as well as the bat-
teries. Protect the device from:
• Moisture; Cold; Dirt of any kind
Immersion in water
Immersion in water can cause damage to
the device.
• Do not immerse the device in water.
Open the device
The device is a closed system. If the device
is opened, the device can and may no longer
be used as intended.
• Do not open the device.
The only exception is opening the battery com-
partment to insert, replace or remove the batteries.
Sensitive components
The device consists of sensitive components.
• Do not throw the device.
• Do not drop the device.
• Do not apply pressure to the device.
• Package, transport and store the de-
vice according to chapter 6 „Packaging,
transport and storage" in the operating
manual.
Handling the batteries
The RWM MC uses batteries (2 x AAA, 1.5 V).
With intended use of the device and an
intact battery cell, the electrode and elec-
trolyte material is not released into the
environment.
3.1 Function
The RWM MC is used to read out smoke
alarm devices and record the chamber value
(see chapter 5.4 „Kammerwert" (Chamber
value) in the operating manual). The cham-
ber value provides information on the level
of pollution of the smoke alarm device.
4.1 Insert batteries
The batteries (2 x AAA, 1.5 V) are included
in the scope of delivery and must be inser-
ted in the RWM MC before commissioning.
Proceed as follows:
(1) Open the battery compartment cover
of the RWM MC.
(2) Insert batteries into the battery com-
partment.
(3) Close the battery compartment.
4.2 Connect the adapter cable
Before you can connect the device with the
smoke alarm device, you must connect the
adapter cable to the RWM MC:
• Insert the RJ plug of the adapter cable in
the connection socket of the RWM MC
until it clicks in audibly.
5.1 Switch on the RWM MC
Switch on the RWM MC as follows:
• Press and hold the Start button for 3
seconds.
• Homescreen is displayed
• Type, version number, manufacturer, and
year of manufacture of the RWM MC
are shown
• Message "Initialisiere Auslesesoftware"
(Initiate readout software) is displayed.
• The device is switched on and is in
stand-by mode.
5.2 Connect the RWM MC to the
smoke alarm device
Reading out of the smoke alarm device first
requires a connection between the RWM MC
and the smoke alarm device.
Establish the connection as follows:
(1) Remove the Testing / stop button
(smoke alarm device cover).
• Observe the operating manual for the
smoke alarm device.
(2) Remove the protective cap of the
triangular plug of the adapter cable.
(3) Carefully insert the triangular plug of
the adapter cable into the triangular slot on
the smoke alarm device. The long side of the
triangular plug is marked with the logo of
Pyrexx Technologies GmbH.
5.3 Reading out the smoke alarm device
A readout cycle of one year is recommen-
ded. After you have switched on the device
and connected the smoke alarm device with
the RWM MC, you can read out the smoke
alarm device:
(1) Ensure that the RWM MC and the smo-
ke alarm device are switched on.
• Observe the operating manual for the
smoke alarm device.
• After initialisation of the software is
complete, the message „Melder aus-
lesen - Bestätigen" (Read out device -
Confirm)
(2) Press the Start button.
• The message „Melder lesen" (Read de-
vice) appears. A status bar informs you of
the progress of the readout procedure.
• As a result, you will see the messa-
ge „RWM geprüft" (Device proofed)
or
„Verschmutzt"
(Contaminated). "
If there is no smoke alarm device connec-
ted, you will see the message "FEHLER -
Verbindung fehlgeschlagen - Kabel prüfen
sonst Melder defekt / Batt. leer" (ERROR
- connection failed - check cable, otherwise
detector defective / battery empty) (see
chapter 5.6 "Malfunctions" in the operating
manual).
5.4 Switch off the RWM MC
Switch off the RWM MC as follows:
• Press and hold the Start button for 3
seconds.
or
• Wait for 80 seconds until the device
switches itself off automatically (see
chapter 3.4 „Energy-saving mode" in the
operating manual).
6.1 Disposal.
According to ElektroG and BattG (German
Electrical and Electronic Devices Act and
German battery law), this device as well as
the batteries it contains may not be dispo-
sed of with domestic waste.
• Return the appliance to be discarded to
the manufacturer for further utilization,
or hand it over to your local waste dis-
posal company
• Dispose of batteries at the local collec-
tion point.
• Note that improper disposal can cause
harm to the environment.
