the on-the-go, everyday user in mind, this charger integrates a 2800 mAh lithium polymer
battery and 1/2 watt solar panel to keep USB electronics going anytime, anywhere. These

CHARGING THE BRUNTON EMBER
BRUNTON EMBER includes a multi-function 3-in-1 cable, with micro, and Apple connectors. To
charge your EMBER from your computer, simply plug the micro (middle) tip into the input port
on the EMBER, and the opposite end into an active USB port. The indicator lights flash in
sequence.
To charge by solar, simply place the EMBER in good direct sunlight with the solar panel facing
upwards and angled toward the
sun. The indicator light will
show green.

CHARGING YOUR USB DEVICE

interface, the device-specific USB cable included with your electronics can also be used.
Simply connect your device to the USB output port on the EMBER using the appropriate cable,
then press and hold the power button until the indicator light shows amber and your device
begins to charge. A trickle charge mode activates when your device reaches full charge.
Remember to power the EMBER o when you disconnect your device by pressing and holding
the power button until the amber light goes o .

VERIFYING CHARGE
A single click of the power button will show the yellow indicator lights and give an indication of
the charge held in the EMBER according to the chart below.
When the EMBER is charging from an external power source like a computer USB or a common
AC to USB adapter and the yellow indicator lights will show the charging progression. Charge
time from empty to full approximate 3 hours. Charge time from solar, approximately 30 hours.
When charging by solar, the 'sun' indicator will show green, but the yellow indicators will not

TIPS AND TROUBLE SHOOTING
Charging by solar: The sun is typically most powerful during the hours of 10am & 2pm. In order
to maximize the charge, angle your EMBER toward the sun, and reposition it throughout the
day for full exposure of the solar panel. Keep in mind that charging through glass dramatically
unattended, as the mirror surface could be damaged. Additionally, obstructions like shade,
clouds, air pollution and locations at higher latitudes can cause slower charge times. Full, direct,
bright sun serves best. Keep in mind that charge times from zero % to half are much
longer than from half to full, so it is recommend to charge your EMBER before leaving home,
and then use the solar panel to maintain the internal charge.
Charging your device: Be sure the EMBER has at least some level of stored charge. Be sure
that the plug/adapter is correct and fully installed. Be sure to press and hold the power button.
Keep in mind that it takes greater current to charge a device from zero % to half, than
it reaches 50% charge than if it was allowed to drain completely.
