Description
The RT 39712 contains a single phase variable ratio transformer with separate
windings,whoseadjustablesecondaryvoltage isindicatedonabuilt involtmeter.
The instrument complies with the requirements of the VDEfor galvanic separation
of the connected unit (e. g. AC-DC receivers) from the mains. Furthermore the
transformer can be employed anywhere where an AC voltage under load with
practicallycontinuousadjustmentwithout tosses,in the range 1...250Vis
required.
By rotating the setting knob fully clockwise to the right hand stop, the highest
possible output voltage of approx. 250 V is obtained.

The instrument is designed in accordance with VDE 0411and VDE 0550, this
means that the isolating transformer fulfils the requirements for protective
separation and protective isolation.

IMPORTANT, observe the maximum permitted
The variable isolating transformer is fused on the primary side.This built-in fuse
protects against overloading of the secondary by short circuit. The RT39712
used a delayed switching power switch to avoid a high starting current impulses
which could act return in worstcase to the main fuse at the operators position.
Duringa period of time of about 0,5 ... 1,2sec. after switchingon, a resistance
will be switched in series with the primary winding to reduce the starting
current.
