Safety and Warnings
Do not expose the unit to strong vibrations and avoid impact or drop-
ping the unit.
Moisture or liquids entering the enclosure can render the Ring Light
irreparable. Should liquid leak into the unit, immediately unplug it
from the power supply or battery, and contact your dealer.
Do not use the unit outdoors in rain or snow.
Do not put the Ring Light in dust or sand.
Always use only the cable supplied, and the supplied battery compart-
ment or power supply unit (AC adapter). When in use, the main power
supply socket should be within easy reach.
Should you discover a defect in your Ring Light, please contact the
dealer from where you purchased the device. Never keep the Ring Light
and its accessories in a parked car in direct sunlight.
In the event of unusually high heat while in operation, and a noticeable
strange noise occurs while in operation or smoke, unplug the device
from the power supply or battery compartment immediately and contact
your dealer.
Avoid the formation of condensation.
Avoid overly kinking or stretching of the cable.

Congratulations – by choosing the LED Ring Light RL-48, you have opted
for a modern and reliable light source for managing your close-up and
macro images with professional quality. The Ring Light is also excellent
for balancing high contrast and brightens - for example- the photogra-
phy of people outdoors.
Take a moment and follow the information and tips for handling the Ring
Light.
Warning: the Ring Light RL-48 has 48 high power LEDs.
These have a high luminosity. Avoid looking directly into
the light, and keep it at a safe distance when photogra-
phing people with it.

LED Ring Light RL-48
Battery compartment with tripod mount (for 4 type AA Batteries or
rechargeable batteries)
Connection cable
Power supply unit (AC adapter)
6 adapter rings (49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67 mm) (1.92, 2.04, 2.16,
2.28, 2.44, 2.63 in)
Start of operation with rechargeable
batteries or batteries
1. Insert 4 AA rechargeable batteries or ordinary batteries in the batte-
ry compartment. Always use new batteries or fully charged batteries
of the same type in order to ensure a constant light. Note that you
have inserted the batteries with the correct polarity (+/-).
Always replace the standard batteries or rechargeable batteries at the
same time. Do not mix rechargeable batteries or standard batteries.
2. Select the appropriate adapter ring for the lens used, and attach
these to your lens. You can often find the correct diameter printed on
the lens, filter or on the inside of the lens cap.
3. Slide the ring on the light side of the lens mount adapter ring. Do not
force it to turn.
4. Connect the ring light and battery with the included flexible cable.
Tip: You can attach the battery compartment with the supplied tripod
screw to your camera on the ground. An assembly to the battery
compartment is still possible, because the battery compartment has a
tripod thread.
5. Switch on the Ring Light with the main switch on the side of the
battery compartment (I/O).
Start of operation with a power supply
unit (AC adapter)
In the studio, at home or in practice, the use of the supplied power sup-
ply unit (AC adapter) is recommended. First of all, connect the power
supply unit (AC adapter) to the designated box on the Ring Light, and
then connect it to the mains AC power.
Use the included power supply unit (AC adapter) for battery charging in
the battery compartment.
Light output regulation
The Ring Light has a switch for regulation of illumination:
F the Ring Light is operated at full light output (48 LEDs)
0 the Ring Light uses only the upper illuminated rim of 24 LEDs
I
the Ring Light uses only the lower illuminated rim of 24 LEDs
Great effects and processes can be produced by varying the light out-
put; in addition, it can also avoid "blooming" of light in the macro range
by means of targeted light. By turning the lens of the Ring Light, the
light can be steered in any direction.
Incidentally, another advantage of the RL-48 is that you can combine the
Ring Light with an auxiliary flasher. This option is particularly recommen-
ded for subjects at a distance to achieve uniform illumination or (flash)
fill.
Before you shoot important images or events, experiment with the func-
tion and operation of the ring light; be familiar with the different ways of
controlling the lighting.
For a shadow free, soft illumination of the image, the minimum distance
of 8 cm (3.14 in) should not be exceeded.
Warning: Never leave the cable unattended within reach
of small children. In case of improper use, a risk of
strangulation exists.
Care, cleaning and service
Occasional care and cleaning of the device will ensure a long service life.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the device. For heavier soiling, mois-
ten the cloth very slightly. However, never use strong solvents such as
alcohol, gasoline or thinner. This could scratch or cause other damage
to the casing or diffuser screen. Immediately remove spent batteries or
rechargeable batteries from the battery compartment to avoid leakage.
Inside the device, there are no parts that require maintenance. Occasi-
onally it is advisable to clean the contacts inside the battery compart-
ment with a cleaning pen that is available from specialty stores.
Battery Disposal
Do not dispose of batteries in household trash. Please dispose of old
batteries at a local collection point or at the dealer where you bought
them.
Legal disclaimer
