Maintenance

3.1 Stuffing box
Generally spindle packing have to be changed or tightened immediately, because otherwise a new packing can leak again after
a short period.
Design of spindle packing is shown in the technical data sheets. Spindle packing are available as spare parts set at
manufacturer. For ordering spindle packing always give serial number of valve (written on name plate "W. Nr.").
3.2 Change of spindle packing
•
make valve and piping pressureless shut off and empty where valve is installed
•
in order to replace the spindle sealing, the actuator must be disassembled (for this procedure, see the operating instructions for the
actuator in question).
•
loosen and remove cap nut (411)
•
remove old packing set and clean packing compartment
•
clean valve spindle
•
insert new packing set according to sectional drawing
•
tighten cap nut (411) and fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches
Caution! For packing graphite strenuous tightening will cause high friction, which aggravates the movement of spindle.
3.3 Change of bellows seal
Bellows seal and cone assembly is one unit and will always be changed together. Therefore gaskets for valve (503) are
necessary.

to change bellows seal actuator has to be removed. For disassembling actuator please refer to operating instructions of
actuator
•
two-way and diverting valves:
mixing valves:
•
remove safety stuffing box (441)
•
open screw (451) and grub screw (449)
•
remove cone assembly (300)
•
remove gasket (444) and clean gasket area
•
assemble new cone (300) and new gasket (444). Put in grub screw (449) to prevent twisting
•
assemble new safety stuffing box (441)
•
clean gasket areas at body (101)
•
two-way and diverting valves:
mixing valves:
(torque's see table in appendix)
•
fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches according operating instructions of actuator.

remove bonnet (201) of body (101)
remove B-flange (601) of body (101)
assemble bonnet (201) with cone assembly (300) on valve body (101)
assemble B-flange (601) on body (101) and tighten bolts gradually, diametrically in steps.
