VD Real Value Converter

WARNING! The activities being described in the following may only be performed by Fronius-
trained service staff! Before opening up the machine, shift the mains switch to the - O -position and
unplug the machine from the mains! Observe the safety rules in the Operating Instructions of the
power source.
General
The VD Real Value Converter translates the digital speed signal into a Fronius-specific signal.
Prerequisites
The 'Robacta Drive' option on the wirefeeder is a prerequisite for installing the VD actual value converter.
Installation on VR 1500 / VR 4000 / VR 7000 / KD 7000
1.
VR 1500: Detach cover from control unit
VR 4000 / 7000, KD 7000: Detach right side wall

Disconnect 2 pin Molex plug and socket connection as follows (see
cable imprint or wiring diagram):
VR 1500: at lines X11:1 / X11:2
VR 4000 / 7000: at lines X18:1 / X18:2
KD 7000: at lines X8:1 / X8:2

Connect Molex plug (1) and Molex socket (8) of VD Real Value
Converter (4) with respective counterparts of 2 pin connection.

KD 7000: Attach right side wall
Applies only to VR 1500 / 4000 / 7000:

Solder the + 5 V supply lead (6) to pin 'N' on the connection socket
of the Robacta Drive option on the wirefeeder
5.
VR 1500: Attach cover to control unit
VR 4000 / 7000: Attach right side wall
Installation on KD 1500 D-11 / KD 7000 D-11
1.
KD 1500 D-11: remove the cover from the control unit
VR 7000 D-11: remove the right-hand side panel
2.
On the FU 60 (A4) PCB, remove the 4-pin Molex socket from X3 (2-
pin cable from the connection socket of the Robacta Drive option)
3.
Plug the cable supplied onto pin 3 of the 4-pin Molex socket
4.
Plug the other end of the cable onto pin 'N' on the connecting socket
on the Robacta Drive option
5.
Disconnect the cable adapters (2) and (7) from the VD actual value
converter (4)
6.
Plug the Molex socket (3) of the VD actual value converter (4) onto
X3 on the FU 60 (A4) PCB
7.
Establish a connection between the Molex plug (5) of the VD actual
value converter (4) and the cable from the connecting socket on the
Robacta Drive option
8.
Secure the VD actual value converter (4) using cable ties
9.
KD 1500 D-11: put the cover back on the control device
KD 7000 D-11: fit the right side panel
