Introduction
The KEY-2R-KPZ is an internal radio keypad
for use with Scantronic Secure Radio (SSR)
receivers. The keypad provides the same
functionality as a wired keypad, including the
ability to configure and set/unset the system.
Notes:
•
This keypad is compatible only with SSR
control units and expanders (not legacy
receivers).
•
The maximum number of radio keypads
you can use is specified in the Installer
Manual .
•
This product must be installed and
maintained only by qualified service
personnel.

Installing the KEY-2R-KPZ
Step 1: Check the location
Note:
Do not mount the KEY-2R-KPZ until
Step 5.
•
Locate the KEY-2R-KPZ out of sight of
potential intruders and within the area
protected by the intrusion system.
•
Choose a convenient location and height
for users.
•
Radio performance may reduce if the device
is mounted near metal pipes, mains wiring,
metal surfaces, electronic equipment or
radio emitters, or near the floor.
•
Make sure that the keypad is not closer than
1 metre to another proximity reader.

Step 2: Remove the front cover
1. Using a thumb (not a tool), flip down
the screw covers (Fig. 2) and remove the
screws.
2. Lift the cover upwards, off its hinges.

Step 3: Connect the batteries
Remove the insulating tab from the battery
compartment (Fig. 3).

Step 4: Learn the KEY-2R-KPZ
Note: If an address has been previously
allocated, you can delete it pressing D and
together while the cover is open.
1. Temporarily re-attach the front cover of
the keypad.
2. If the KEY-2R-KPZ is the control unit's first
keypad:
a) Power up the control unit.
b) Press and hold A and together at
the KEY-2R-KPZ until you see a Joining
message and the navigation LED
flashing orange.
c) After a few seconds, you should see a
message similar to the following, which
indicates that an address has been
allocated to the keypad.

If an address is not allocated, press and
hold A and again. If the display times
out, press the u or n key.
d) Follow the initial power-up prompts
for the control unit, as described in the
Installer Manual .
3. Alternatively, if the control unit already has
a functioning keypad:
a) At an existing keypad, use the Installer
menu to add a new KEY-2R-KPZ radio
keypad.
b) When prompted, press and hold A and
together at the KEY-2R-KPZ until
you see a Joining message and the
navigation LED flashing orange.
c) The address allocated is displayed at the
new keypad; for example:

d) The existing keypad displays the signal
strength to the receiver. The reading
must be at least 3 and ideally greater
than 5.
Note: In the Installer menu, the Test, Signal
Strengths option displays individual signal
strengths at the device and at the receiver.
Step 5: Mount the KEY-2R-KPZ
Remove the front cover. Secure the tamper
block and each corner of the backplate to the
mounting surface (Fig. 4).
Use the supplied 3mm x 19mm (No4) screw
for the tamper block
