Adjust the brake pad so it lies flat against the rim & is aligned with the curve of the
rim. If the pads are too tight, the brake lever is going to pull and immediately
engage, making it harder to disengage the quick release mechanism. Adjust the
screw located on the lever to give the brake cable more slack or make it tighter
(Fig. 5.2). Keep in mind that you should still be able to pull out the cable from the
cable unit (Fig. 5.1).
Adjust and centralize the brake: Centering is done by subtle changes in spring
tension. Both sides of the caliper arms will have a adjacent screw By tightening the
screw, you increase tension (Fig. 5.2).
STEP 6 - Saddle
Put the saddle rod into the seat tube at the desired height and tighten the seat
clamp bolt with Allen key 5 (Fig. 6). You can adjust the saddle angle by loosening
the bolt on the side of the saddle (Fig. 6.1).
Sitting on the seat, with the pedal at the bottom of its rotation, your childs leg
should be almost straight, with just a slight bend in your knee.
STEP 7 • Training wheels
Should your child require training wheels, attach them as shown in Fig. 7.
Final check
Make sure you double check if you tightened all nuts and bolts properly. Especially
the bolts surrounding the front wheel and the pedals need to be securely tight-
ened.
Maintenance
It is important to check the tension of the bike chain regularly. A bike chain with
insufficient tension may cause dangerous situations. Lubricate your chain regularly
in order to keep the chain in a proper condition and to avoid wear and tear.
