SOFTWARE INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the SDP-80 - the world's first audio processor based on a PC using Trinnov's core audio software
that has evolved from use in HIFi, pro audio, broadcast, and commercial cinemas.
The built-in software provides the most powerful and flexible audio architecture available today. Combined
with the JBL Synthesis Sound Field Management, amplifiers and loudspeakers, and you have the most
powerful, integrated immersive audio system available with 36 channels of discrete sound. Please refer to the
SDP-80 User Guide to learn about software operation of the SDP-80.
The factory settings of your SDP-80 are designed to make it as easy as possible to establish the first network
connection between your device (tablet or computer) and the SDP-80 so that you can use its graphical user
interface.
The simplest way is to connect a display, a mouse and a keyboard directly to the back panel 'PC area'
connectors and just enjoy the SDP-80 software.
In addition to the classical keyboard/mouse/screen trio, your SDP-80 has a built-in VNC Server that allows
you to access its graphical user interface over the network from any device running a VNC client. *In other
words, you can control the SDP-80 from any device, whether it's a computer (PC, Mac or Linux) or a tablet
(iOS, Android or Windows), provided that both the SDP-80 and your device are part of the same network.
The VNC Software
If you are connecting from a Mac OS X computer running OS X version 10.5 or higher, you can choose to use
Apple's Screen Sharing VNC client integrated into the OS X operating system. In this case you don't need
to download an additional app and you can skip to the next step. If you are connecting from a Windows
computer, you need to download and install a VNC Client software. A number of VNC Clients/Viewers are
currently available. We recommend Tight VNC®: download and install Tight VNC® from www.tightvnc.com.
You will need to enter the IP address of the SDP-80 in order to connect. If you are connecting from an iOS,
Android or Windows tablet you need to download and install a VNC client app on your tablet.
NETWORK CONNECTION
Wired Via Ethernet
The easiest way to get your SDP-80 connected on a network is to hook up your SDP-80 to your internet
provider's box/router, with an ethernet cable. The default ethernet mode of the SDP-80 is set to DHCP client,
meaning that it will automatically be detected on most domestic networks. Provided this box is a DHCP

server (most of cases) it will be as easy as 'plug and play'.
IMPORTANT: If your SDP-80 is to connect wirelessly, the Wi-Fi antenna needs to be connected to the back of
the unit.
Wi-Fi Mode
You can connect your SDP-80 to your existing domestic Wi-Fi Network. This setting is available from the front
panel display.
From the front panel: First, click on the Menu button on the front panel. Then, you can change the Wi-Fi
mode of your SDP-80 in the Setup > Network > Wi-Fi > Mode page and select the Client Only mode.
Go back to the Wi-Fi menu and select the Connection item to configure the client. Rotate and push the
Select button to initiate the connection with the required Wi-Fi network.
Enter the password using the Input rotating button and the Select button to validate a character.
