DUALEX CAN BE USED FOR:
Measuring leaf chlorophyll content (Chl), epidermal UV-absorb-
ance (Flav) as well as the Nitrogen Balance Index (NBI), which is
the ratio of Chl and Flav.
This information contains valuable indicators used in many appli-
cations such as:
• nitrogen fertilisation
• leaf ripeness
• plant senescence
• plant protection against UV radiation
• pathogen susceptibility
• variety selection
YOUR DUALEX
Dualex is delivered in a case which consists of the main device
with the leaf-clip, a USB cable and a user manual. Dualex is pow-
ered by an internal rechargeable battery.
START-UP DUALEX
Unpack the device and check for any physical damage. If found,
contact Pessl Instruments immediately.
The device is pre-charged but may need recharging depending on
storage and delivery time.
This can be done using the USB cable, either directly from a com-
puter or via a compatible wall plug adapter.

TAKING A MEASUREMENT

To start, press the power button. A beep and the Pessl Logo ap-
pear, followed by the main menu.
Select "Measurement" and confirm with the "OK" button.
Ensure no leaf is clipped between the heads, then press "OK"
again
Open the clip and place the intended leaf between the heads to
take a measurement.
The results will be displayed on the screen.
RETRIEVING YOUR MEASURED VALUES
Measured values can be read directly from the device screen and
are also stored internally.
To access the measurement file, connect the device to a PC using
the USB cable. For more information, refer to our Dualex user

MAINTENANCE
• Ensure the optics are clean and free of dirt
• Keep batteries sufficiently charged during field activities
• Avoid storing the device in direct sunlight or extreme temper-
atures
• Also, avoid direct sunlight during measurement
• Compare values only if measured at the same temperature
