Prior to using your surface lighting unit, please read these
instructions carefully. Keep them safe to have them at hand
at any time. If you pass the devices on to somebody else,
always include these instructions.
1. Intended use
The RB 24D surface lighting unit is marketed exclusively
for the purpose of illumination for image capture. It is not
intended for use in other applications.
It is equipped with clamp bases for attachment to the
Kaiser RS 2 XA copy stands. The lighting unit can also be
attached to boards up to 48 mm (1.9 in.) thickness.
Use the surface lighting unit only as described in these in-
structions. Any other use has to be considered as not as
intended and can result in material damage or physical in-
jury. The surface lighting unit is not a toy.
Kaiser takes no responsibility for damages caused by not
intended or incorrect use.
2. Safety instructions
Please observe the following safety instructions:
WARNING!
Disconnect the devices from the mains if not in use or be-
fore cleaning.
Keep the products away from children.
Do not put the devices into operation, if housing, plugs or
cables are damaged.
Unplug the mains lead from the socket by holding it by the
plug.
Do not disassemble or modify the devices. Repairs must
only be carried out by qualified persons.
CAUTION!
Only use the lighting unit with parts designed for it.
Use the devices only in dry rooms.
Keep the devices away from water and other liquids and
from combustible materials.
Make sure that the devices are not covered during opera-
tion.
Do not use or store the devices at places with extremely
high air humidity or at extremely hot places. Keep the de-
vices away from direct solar radiation.
Let the devices cool down before boxing them.
3. Check devices and scope of supply
When unpacking the devices for the first time, please
check if the scope of supply is complete. It comprises
2 PL 24D panel lights (1)
2 Mains leads (13)
2 Vertical arms (2)
2 Clamp bases (3)
2 Fastening screws (5) for vertical arms
2 Angle guides (8)
2 Cable clips (4)
Check also, if the devices are damaged by extraneous
causes. If this is the case, do not take the devices into op-
eration.
4. Assembly
Mount the vertical arms (2) to the clamp bases (3) and the
clamp bases (3) to the base board of the copy stand (fig.
B). Subsequently attach the angle guides (8) to the vertical
arms. (fig. C) and secure them with the screws (6).
Then place the lights (1) on the fastening bolts of the angle
guides (fig. D) and secure them with the screws (9).
5. Initial operation
Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the op-
erating voltage given on the lights (1).
Make sure that the lights (1) are switched off: the switches
(12) have to be in the "O" position. Then connect the lights
to the mains using the mains leads (13) (fig. E) and attach
the mains leads with the cable clips (4) to the vertical arms
(2).
Switch on the lights with the switches (12).
The brightness can be adjusted continuously with the con-
trol dials (11). For reproducible results, there is a scale on
the control dials.
When not in use, switch off the lights with the switches (12)
and disconnect the lights from the mains by pulling out the
mains plugs.
6. Adjustments
The lighting unit can be adjusted in a variety of ways (see
fig. F, G). To adjust it, release the respective fastening
screw (6), (9) or (5) and tighten it again.
7. Other applications for the lights
The lights (1) can also be used as desktop lights. To do this,
attach the lights to suitable stands or supports with 16 mm
(5/8") standard spigot / baby pin: Place the lights on the
standard spigot (fig. H) and lock them in place with the
screws (9). Note: The lights can also be operated upside-
down in a hanging position.
The lights can be tilted backward and forward. Hold the
light with one hand, loosen the wing screw (16) by rotating
