Installation and operation
1. Connect the HDMI-ARC or HDMI-eARC ports of your sound devices 1 and 2 to the SOUNDBAR
1 & 2 connections with HDMI cables.
2. Connect the HDMI-ARC or HDMI-eARC port of your TV to the HDMI TV connector.
3. Optional: Connect the supplied USB cable to a USB socket of the TV (or an USB-charging
adaptor) to enable automatic switching.
4. Then switch on a TV and, if necessary, the soundbar if it does not switch on automatically.
Caution: When plugging and unplugging the HDMI cables, make sure that the plug contacts are not
dirty or damaged. Make connections without power and switch on the devices only after they have
been connected. Please also ensure that the HDMI cables are of good quality.
HDMI-ARC / eARC and switching logic
There are 2 versions of the audio return channel: HDMI-ARC and the newer HDMI-eARC. The switch
supports both. All audio formats can be transmitted via HDMI-eARC, only stereo, Dolby Digital and
DTS via HDMI-ARC.
Connect your favourite sound device to HDMI 1. If the 2 sound devices are different and one sup-
ports ARC and the other supports eARC, eARC will be used if the eARC sound device is connected
to port 1 and is the first to be recognised by the TV. It may then happen that higher audio formats
are not played correctly on sound device 2. If this is not desired, connect the ARC sound device to
HDMI 1 and restart after all devices have been de-energised briefly.
The switch forwards the switch-on signal for the last sound device used when the switch is supplied
with power via USB. The TV and sound device then switch on together when you power on with the
TV remote control. Operation is also possible without a USB power supply. However, the sound
device must then be switched on manually.
The AX421 switches to the other sound device when you turn on the second sound device. It
automatically switches back to the previous one when you power off the active sound device. This
automatic switching can be toggled on/off by pressing and holding the switch button.
Note: there may be sound devices that switch off the TV when they are deactivated. This behaviour
can sometimes be changed, for example in the HDMI Link or HDMI Control menu item of the
soundbar / AV receiver.
