If no connection can be set up, this error message appears: "Can`t communicate
with device". You then get more detailed information about the type of error. For
example, you might see the message "Device is not connected to COM1". This
message appears if there is no connection between the device and PC.
Once the connection is set up, you can use all the functions available on the MMI.
3.3 Reading and changing the current configuration
In order to set the parameters for the unit, you must first select a parametrization
mode. In the "Instrument Data" menu item, two menu items, "Maintenance" and
"Specialist" are provided for this purpose. Both of these menu options call up the
device data sub-menu.
In the menu bar you can see the seven menu items.
If you select "Specialist" mode, the MMI asks you for your password. The default
password when you have installed the software is "UTT", which you enter without
quotation marks. Note: if you enter an incorrect password, an error message tells
you. You still access the second configuration menu level, but you only have the
access permissions normally associated with the "Maintenance" menu item.
You can enter your password in upper case (capitals) or lower case.
You can use the "Password" menu item in the "Option" sub-menu to switch off
the password function, or change the current password. However, you can only
do so if you are in "Specialist" mode. If you enter a new password, you must
enter it again to confirm it, as the password is not displayed on screen. This
ensures that there are no errors in the password.
You can use the "Instrument" menu item to display and change the device`s current
data, or to enter new data for the device. The data you can change depends on
the mode you have selected. If you select "Maintenance" mode, you can only
access the main operating parameters. If you select "Specialist" mode, you can
