• When installing the trap we strongly recommend
the use of gloves. This increases the chances of
success considerably and will also protect you from
injury.
• Carefully dig a hole in the area in which you want to
place the trap. Make sure that the tunnel is in the
centre and the two ends of the tunnel are free of
dirt. The hole should be just wide enough to allow
the trap to slip in. If it is too wide the animal might
try to go around the trap. To avoid this you can
additionally make the side walls harder by patting
down the soil.
• Remove all stones and sticks which could hinder
the trap on closing.
• Place a piece of bait on the trigger plate. You can
use any kind of vegetable pieces.
• Prepare the trap. Make sure that one hand is always
on the clamping handles. This will prevent an acci-
dental triggering and possible injury.
• Insert the trigger plate at the centre of the scissor
blades. The sensitivity of the trigger can be con-
trolled by how far the trigger plate is pushed in. If it
is right on the edge, the trap is very sensitive.
• Place the trap into the hole and cover it with some
loose dry soil. Then cover everything with a bucket
or something similar, so that no daylight can enter.
