• Remove power from drain cleaner before any mainte-
nance is performed.

Description
The RIDGID FlexShaft Repair Coupling is intended to replace
®
factory cable termination on damaged FlexShaft DeadCore™
(grey/metal color) cable assemblies. Coupling use will result
in a shorter cable. Coupling can be reused multiple times.
Do not use for LiveCore™ cable (gold/brass color). LiveCore
cable will unravel when cut. LiveCore cable can be repaired at
a RIDGID Authorized Independent Service Center.

Installation
Refer to the respective FlexShaft machine operators' manual
to remove cable assembly from the machine.
1. Confirm cable is DeadCore (gray/metal color). Do not cut
LiveCore (gold/brass color) cable.
2. Using bolt cutters, cut the cable past the damaged area.
3. Trim sheath to expose 1 1/2" (38mm) of cable.
4. Use a grinder to remove burrs and sharp edges from cut
cable end.
5. Make sure all parts are clean and free of debris.
6. Collet should be retained in clamping nut. If they have
separated, push grooved end of the collet into clamping
nut until retained .

7. Insert cable through clamping nut and collet assembly
(see Figure 1).
8. Fully insert cable end against stop in housing and hand
tighten the clamping nut to the housing
9. Confirm that the cable end is full inserted in the housing
by looking into the inspection hole in the housing
grey/metal color of the cable should be visible.
10. Securely tighten clamping nut an additional 1/2 turn,
using 1" and 13/16" wrenches . Confirm that the cable
is secure in the repair coupling.

Refer to the respective FlexShaft machine operators' manual
to install the repaired cable. Confirm that the cable sheath is
in the correct location and everything is properly secured.
