Before you Start:
* Make sure that the Spyder2 hardware is unplugged during installation
* Disable Adobe" Gamma or any other 3rd party monitor calibration software in the "Start up" folder
e Set the display resolution to a minimum of 1027 X 768
e Set the display color depth to a minimum of 16 million colors (24-bit Color)
e Un Windows®; verify that you have set the "Hardware Acceleration" to Full. This can be found in the Display Properties control panel under
Setting > Advanced > Performance or Troubleshoot tab.
e Verify that any anti-virus software is disabled prior to installation, and that screen savers and energy savers are deactivated before calibration.

7. Choose the Destination Directory or use the 7. Dialog box will pop up: The software was successfully
recommended default, click "Next" installed.

Before Running Spyder2express Software:
e — You should know how to change the settings using the on-screen controls. You need to know how to adjust the color temperature, contrast
and brightness settings (if available), and how to reset the monitor to its factory defaults. If you are not familiar with how your monitor works,
please read the manual for the monitor before you start to calibrate with the Spyder2express software.
e To accurately calibrate your monitor there should be no light source shining directly on the screen. Turn off all desk lamps and close blinds to
minimize ambient light. If there is overhead lighting, try to shield the screen using a hood. Low ambient (room) lighting is needed for color
correct work. You should calibrate in the same room lighting conditions as when you normally view the monitor.
e |f you have problems communicating with the Spyder2, plug it directly into a USB port on the computer, not through a hub or keyboard and try
again. Some combination USB/Fire Wire cards have been known to not work with the ColorVision Spyder2 and software.
e |f you have problems communicating with the Spyder2, unplug any un-needed USB devices such as a graphics tablet, web cam, digital camera,
external drives, etc. and try again.
e Adaptec" and Roxio" CD Burning software should NOT be running when calibrating under Windows. Check if CD burning software is on your
list of StartUp Items to be sure it is not running in the background. To do this, press crtl-alt-delete to open Task Manager and check if any of
the following programs/processes are listed as running: easycd, directed, createcd, adaptec, or roxio. If one or more is listed, highlight the
program and click on the End Task button.
e When running the Spyder2express software calibration process, do not move the position of the Spyder2express software window on screen.
When you are changing the settings of your monitor, wait until after the monitors on-screen control window closes before taking readings with
the Spyder2.
e Ünce the calibration process has begun and the Spyder2 is placed where indicated on the monitor screen to take readings, do not remove the
Spyder? from the screen until prompted to do so.
