The UPLOCK® bicycle lock system is a folding lock with a high security
standard and at the same time an intelligent transport solution for the lock,
combined in one product. The lock is simply stowed away invisibly and
protected in the specially designed seat post. This means that no additional
bracket is required. The folding lock is fully integrated into the supplied
UPLOCK® seat post. An existing saddle can simply be remounted and reused.
By purchasing this patented bicycle lock system, you have opted for a product
with high quality standards. The UPLOCK® bicycle lock systems are produced
using the most modern and optimized manufacturing processes and high-
quality materials and equipped with the best components.
The usage information is an integral part of this product. It contains important
information on safety and use. Familiarize yourself with all operating and
safety instructions before use. Hand over all documents when passing the
product on to third parties. Only use your UPLOCK® in accordance with its
intended use. Please read the chapter "Intended use". Improper use can result
in material damage and serious accidents or falls.
We wish you a safe journey at all times,

Notes on safe handling
-
Carefully read all the safety information and instructions contained in
these original usage information and keep them in a safe place. If you do
not fully understand them, contact a specialist cycle dealer or us
directly.
-
If you have any questions about safe use and handling, please contact us
or your specialist dealer.
-
Ensure the operational safety of your UPLOCK® system.
-
Read the following sections "Before your first ride", "Before every ride"
and "After a fall". Observe the instructions in the "Maintenance and care"
chapter.
-
Make sure that the saddle height is adjusted to your height. An
incorrectly adjusted saddle height can make it more difficult to operate
and control the bike.

Commissioning
-
Remove the UPLOCK lock system from the presentation packaging and
remove all packaging material.
-
The keys and the code card are in separate packaging.
-
Check that all parts are present and undamaged. If this is not the case,
please contact the specified service address.
-
When delivered, the lock is in the transport position inside the UPLOCK®
seat post. The lock is therefore not locked.
Before the first ride
We expressly recommend checking the general roadworthiness of the bicycle
in general and the operational safety of the seat post in particular before every
ride.
1.
Check that the saddle is firmly anchored to the saddle clamp.
2.
Make sure that the seat post tube is firmly connected to the bicycle
frame and that there is no play. Observe the minimum insertion depth of
the seat post.
3.
The load limit of the seat post must not be exceeded. The UPLOCK® seat
post was only designed for the use described in the chapter "Intended
use".
4.
The maximum permissible total weight (bike + rider + luggage) for which
your bike is designed must be observed - see chapter "Intended use".
5.
Handlebar and saddle height must be adjusted to your height - see
"Fitting the UPLOCK® seat post".
Before every ride
Your UPLOCK® system has been checked several times during the production
process and by final inspection. Nevertheless, changes may have occurred
during transportation or manipulation.
1.
Visually inspect all fastening screws. The UPLOCK® must not have any
mechanical damage in the form of deep scratches, notches or chipping.
No unusual noises should be audible, which could be an indication that
the screw connections are not tight.
2.
The locking lever must be firmly closed before every ride, "KEEP
CLOSED". Check this even if the bike is only left unattended for a short
time.
3.
To check the seat post, lean on your saddle and push it up/down
alternately. This allows you to check whether the tilt function is correctly
locked.
After a fall
If components are bent after a fall, they must never be realigned. There is an
increased risk of breakage. External influences, falls or accidents can damage
safety-relevant components such as the seat post. The following points must
be observed in order to avoid dangerous situations while riding:
-
Alternately push the saddle up/down or try to twist it to check the screw
or clamp connection between the saddle and seat post.
It must not be possible to twist or move the saddle. This method can also
be used to check that the seat post is firmly seated in the frame and that
the tilt function is correctly locked/functioning.
-
Lift your bike briefly and let it bounce on the ground. Make sure that no
unusual rattling noises can be heard - it can help to identify loose screw
connections or a malfunction of the seat post tilting mechanism.
UPLOCK® seat post
Intended use / approval for use
The UPLOCK® seatpost is suitable for use in bicycles, pedelecs and e-bikes up
to 45 km/h. It is NOT suitable for extreme loads that occur during downhill,
dual slalom or freeriding or in riding situations with jumps. Furthermore, it is
not approved for use on children's bikes (= bikes with a maximum saddle
height of more than 435 mm and less than 635 mm, intended for riders with
an average weight of 30 kg). Child seats, trailer hitches or pannier racks may
not be attached to an UPLOCK® seat post.
The UPLOCK® seat post, extruded or forged from 7075 aluminum, has been
tested and approved in accordance with ISO standards. The following tests
were carried out:
EN 17404|4.3.15 analogous to ISO 4210-2|4.16.2; EN 17404|4.3.3 analogous
to EN 15194|4.3.3.1 / EN 15194|4.3.3.2; EN 17404|4.3.15.2 analogous to
ISO 4210-9|4.5.2 / ISO 4210-9|4.5.3
Categorization
With regard to use, categories 1-3 or EPAC categories E1-E3 are specified,
which differ significantly from each other, especially in their intended use. The
different categories are described below.
"Road bike" - a bicycle with a saddle height of 635 mm or more, intended for
use on public roads at high speeds. These bicycles are generally intended for
use on asphalt roads; approval up to 110 kg total weight = bicycle, luggage,
rider.
"City and trekking bicycle" - a bicycle with a saddle height of 635 mm or more,
intended for use on public roads, including unpaved roads; approval up to 120
kg total weight = bicycle, luggage, rider.
"Mountain bike (off-road bike)" - a bicycle with a saddle height of 635 mm or
more, intended for use on rough terrain, public roads and public paths;
equipment includes a suitably reinforced frame and other components;
approval up to 110 kg total weight = bicycle, luggage, rider.
The UPLOCK® production serial number is located on the back of the seat post
head.
Safety instructions
Installation is easy on bicycles and e-bikes, but make sure you check the
installation requirements beforehand. If you do not have the necessary
specialist knowledge, we strongly recommend that you have it fitted by a
specialist dealer. The seat post must be replaced to avoid further accident
risks after a fall with damage. Always check that the saddle is firmly anchored
in the saddle clamp. Also make sure that the seat post tube is firmly
connected to the bicycle frame with no play. It must be clamped in the desired
position so that it cannot turn or move in the seat tube. Observe the minimum
insertion depth of the seat post.
