- By using this TSR meter you can enjoy high precision and quality. You benefit
from many years of measurement experience, the intensive cooperation with
domestic and foreign universities, universities of applied sciences and research
institutes. The MC4.0 is manufactured in our factory with the utmost care. All
sensors are calibrated in our accredited wind tunnel systems and checked
precisely for the prescribed tolerance values.
A. Description
Safety and foreseeable misuse
- Use MC4.0 only according to the instructions in this manual.
Another use may result in property damage or personal injury.
- Always use MC4.0 outside areas of highly flammable and/or
explosive substances. Use in hazardous areas is not permitted!
- Avoid moisture, extreme temperatures, vibrations and vibrations, as well as
strong sources of electromagnetic interference. These can significantly affect
the quality of the measurements or damage the device.
- Unauthorized changes to the device can lead to malfunctions and are
prohibited for safety reasons.
- After the service life has expired, send the device back to TSR Messtechnik. We
take care of the professional disposal.
B. How it works
Purpose
The MC4.0 is an anemometer with thermoelectric flowprobe.
Flowprobes are available in measuring range 0 to 1 m/s or 0 to 5 m/s.
Scope of delivery:

Thermoelectric flowprobe
The probe has an PTC resistor which is maintained at a constant temperature
above the ambient temperature. The rate of flow is measured on the basis of the
heating power required for this. As this measurement is heavily dependent on the
ambient temperature, a second precision PTC resistor is used to measure the
ambient temperature, and compensation is made automatically.
Display unit
This unit contains the evaluation electronics for the probe.
The display shows:
- Data
- Settings
- Measure
The unit should not be switched on until all necessary cables and the flowprobe
are connected. To switch on the unit, press the ON/OFF button. After a short
moment, a welcome screen appears and the type of sensor connected to the
unit is displayed.

C. Operations
Profile Average measurement
Measure menu: Measured values, units and sensor identification are shown
continuously in the display. The mean value measurement is carried out over a
defined period of time. It is used, for example, for serial measurements with a
constant time interval. Select Menu in the function bar, select the menu item
Averaging time, set the desired value in the range 1- 7200 s. To start the
averaging measurement, select Start averaging in the function bar. End running
intervals prematurely by selecting Stop in the function bar. After the interval has
expired, the determined values are displayed. In the function bar, the functions
Save - to save the measurement data and Delete - to discard the measurement,
are now available. After selecting one of the two functions, the unit is ready for a
new mean value measurement.
Data Logger
Datalogger allows recording instantaneous values in start-stop measurement with
adjustable interval (time span between two recordings). It can be max. 1.000,000
records (internal memory with 4GB). Select Menu in the function bar, select the
Logger Interval menu item, set the desired time interval between recordings,
setting range 1- 7200 s. Start/stop logger: Activate Logger Start in the function bar.
The unit now records all measured data. The function Stop now appears in the
function bar. To end, select Stop in the function bar. The logged data are stored
in the internal memory of the unit. If the logger is not stopped manually, recording
is continuous until the logger measurement profile is exited, the unit is switched off
or the battery is discharged. The logged data is retained in these cases.
Maintenance of flowprobe
The measuring probes are basically maintenance-free. However, dirt
accumulation on the PTC resistor can lead to measurement errors. For cleaning,
the head part can be carefully immersed in a non-aggressive cleaning liquid. It
must then be washed in distilled water and allowed to dry completely. Do not dry
with a hot air blower or compressed air!
