Cleaning Heads and Tape Path
Dirty heads and tape path will cause:
- Loss of high frequency
response which
results in poor sound
quality
» Loss of sound valume
in recording
and playback
« Drop-out
« Unsatisfactory
results in tape erasing
«Increase of wow and flutter
Therefore, the mirror-like finish on the face of all heads and
tape
path
must
be
preserved
to
get optimum
performance.
Generally cleaning
heads after every 8 hours will be sufficient.
But it is recommended to clean the heads and tape path carefully
before starting a valuable recording.
1. Remove
the head cover by pulling it up.
2. Take
the
supplied
head
cleaning
tip or
a soft
cloth and
carefully wipe the heads and other surfaces upon which the
tape travels.
,
If the
deposits
are
hard
to remove,
moisten
the tip or the
cloth with a head cleaning solution or
denatured
alcohol
and
repeat cleaning.
For easier access
to the pinch
roller, push back the wire lever
of
the
automatic
shut-off
mechanism
and fix it there
with
a
string or so, and then set the Function selector to » (FWO); for
easier access to the capstan, set the selector to >
(FF).
+ Remember
to remove
string when
cleaning is completed.
«Do not allow metallic materials near the heads.
+ Discard the tip or cloth
after
use
to prevent
contamination
of the cleaning solution or alcohol remaining in the container.
Demagnetizing
Heads
Continuous use, or the accidental touch, of a picce of magnetized
Steel (screwdriver.
scissors, etc.) will magnetize
the heads,
causing an increase in tape noise.
It is recommended that the
heads be demagnetized
periodically
to maintain
optimum
per-
formance.
The SONY
Head Demagnetizer
HE-2
(optional) is
recommended.
Cleaning Cabinet
Clean the cabinet with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
Do not use solvents such as alcohol, benzine or thinner as they
could mar the finish of the recorder.
Lubrication
To maintain the optimum performance of the recorder, lubrication
is required every 6 months.
Consult your nearest SONY daaler
for lubrication of your recorder.
Use light machine
oll and
lubricate
the capstan,
pinch
roller
shaft and idler shafts.
Avoid excessive lubrication.
it willcause
slippage of the mechanism
and contamination
of your tape.
Make sure all excess oil ts wiped off completely.
Remove
the
top panei and take out the cap of pinch roller.
Lubricate the
pinch roller shaft, capstan, and idier shafts with 1 drop each
of light machine
oil.
+ Before removing the top panel, disconnect the AC cord.

Généralement, un.nettoyage des tétes toutes les huit
heures d'utilisation est suffisant, mais il est recommandeé de faire
un nettoyage
méticuleux,
des
tates
et de la bande,
avant
de
commencer
un enregistrement de qualité.
1. Retirer le couvercle de tétes en te soulevant.
2. Essuyer les tétes et les autres
surfaces
en
coritact
avec
fa
bande, & I'aide du stylet de nettoyage de téte ou d'un
tissu
souple.
Lorsque les dépéts sont difficites & entever, mouijter le stylet ou
te tissu avec de l'atcool dénaturé, et recommencer
fe nettoyage.
On peut nettoyer fa roulette d'entrainement
plus facilement en
tenant poussé le levier 4 un fil du mécanisme
de coupure
auto-
matique
avec une ficelle et en mettant
le sélecteur de marche
& [> FWD],
ot & [ >> FF), pour nettoyer le cabestan.
+Ne
pas
oublier
d'enfever
la ficelle
aprés
avoir
terminé
te
nettoyage.
+ Eviter d'approcher des piéces métalliques prés des tétes.
+ Jeter Je tissu aprés l'usage afin de prévenir toute contamination
de la solution de nettoyage.
Démagnétisation des tétes
Une utilisation continuelle ou le contact accidentel d'une piéce
d'acier
magnétisée
(tournevis, ciseaux, etc...) magnétisera
les
tétes, entratnant une augmentation du bruit de ja bande.
Il est recommandé de démagnétiser périodiquement les tétes afin
d'obtenir un résultat optimum.
Le Démagnétiseur
de Tétes SONY
HE-2 (sur option) est recom-
mandé.
Nettoyage du coffret
Nettoyer te coffret du magnétophone
avec un morceau
de tissu
doux et propre imbibé da détergent.
Ne pas utiliser de dissol-
vants tels que I'alcool, l'essence ou fa benzine afin da ne
pas
endommager
le coffret.
Lubrification
Nest nécessaire
de lubrifier le magnétophone
tous tes six mois
afin d'obtenir les résultats optimum.
Consuiter le concessionnaire SONY
le plus proche pour ta lubri-
fication de votre magnétohponne.
Lubrifier le cabestan, |'axe de la roulette d'entrainemant
et les
axes fibres avec de I'huile !égére.
Eviter une lubrification exces-
sive, ce qui causerait
des glissements
dans
le mécanisme
et
contaminerait votre bande.
S'assurer
que
!'exédant
d'huile
a
bien été essuyée.
Enlever
le panneau
supérieur
et retirer
les
capuchons do Ia roulette d'entralnement.
Lubrifier le cabestan,
fas axes libres et I'axe de ta roulette d'entrainement avec une
goutte chacun d'huile & machine légére.
+ Avant de retirer fe panneau
supérieur
débrancher
le cordon
d'alimentation.

Jedoch wird empfohlen, vor wertvollen Aufnahmen
einmal sorgfaltig zu sdubern.
1. Die Tonkopfabdeckung

mitgelieferten Tonkopfrainigungstupfer
oder
einem
weichen Tuch sorgfaltig die Tonképfe
und andere Oberflache,
tiber die das Band lauft. abwischen.

oder des Tuch
in
einer
Tonkopfreinigungslésung
oder
in densturiertem
Atkohol
anfeuchten
und nochmels
sdubern.
Um
den Zugang zur Andrucksrolle zu erleichtern, den Drahthebel
des automatischen Abschaltmechanismus zuriickziehen, mit einer
Schnur befestigen und den Laufhebel auf » (FWO) stellen.
Beim

stellen.

was Zischgerdusche
auf dem
Band
erzeugt.
Um
Hochleistung
zu
erhalten,
die Tonképfe
hin
und
wieder
entmagnetisieren.
SONY Entmagnetisierer HE-2 (gesondert lieferbas) ist empfehlens-
wert.
Sadubern des Gehduses
Das
Gehduse
mit einem
weichen
Tuch
und
Reinigungsmittel
saubern.
Niemals starke chemische
Lésungsmittel
wie
Benzin
und Terpentin verwenden, da sie das Gehduse beschadigen.
Olen
Um
die optimale Leistung zu erhalten,
ist etwa
