OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Car aerial amplifier
Order No. 37 30 87
This product complies with the national and European legal requirements.
Proper use according to manufacturer's instructions
The car aerial amplifier is used to amplify radio signals of car aerials.
This product may only be operated when it is connected to a 12V DC car power supply, with the
negative terminal of the car battery connected to the body. It may only be installed and operated
in vehicles equipped with this type of voltage supply.
By way of installation the user has to ensure that the aerial amplifier is protected against mois-
ture and dampness.
Any use, other than that described above, may lead to damage to this product and involves
other risks, such as short circuit, fire, electric shock.
Always observe the safety instructions.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. The warranty will be
null and void in such cases.
This symbol indicates important information in the instructions. Please read all
the instructions before using this device, they include important information for
its correct operation.
• For safety and licensing reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the product
are not permitted.
• The device may only be used with a 12 V DC vehicle power supply (with the negative terminal
of the battery connected to the body of the vehicle). Never connect the aerial amplifier to any
other voltage supply.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it,
consult a trained technician.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
• Please, also observe the additional safety instructions in each individual section of these
instructions.
Installation and Connection
Fasten the aerial amplifier as described so that it cannot loosen in the event of
an accident and thus become a danger to the passengers.
To avoid shorts and any resulting damage to the aerial amplifier, the negative
terminal (earth) of the car battery has to be disconnected first.
Only connect the negative terminal of the battery, when you have connected the
aerial amplifier completely and have checked the connection.
Only use a volt meter, or a diode test lamp, to check the voltage of the vehicle
system leads, as normal test lamps consume excessive voltage and may thus
damage the vehicle's electronics.
When installing the cables, ensure that these are not squashed or scraped on
sharp edges! Use rubber grommets at cable insert points for penetrations.
Do not lay cables in the triggering area of air bags.
• Remove your car radio and disconnect the existing aerial connector.
• Connect the aerial connector of the amplifier to the now available, free aerial terminal.
• Plug the car aerial's connector into the socket on the aerial amplifier.
Should the plug connections on the aerial amplifier not be suitable for the plug
connections on the car radio or the aerial line, you can acquire a corresponding
adapter in specialist shops.
• Connect the red connection cable with the aerial control output of the car radio.

The aerial amplifier will be switched on via this input if a voltage of +12V is supplied.
Nowadays, almost all car radios are provided with such a control output which only
carries +12V if the radio is turned on.
If such a control ouput is missing on your car radio, the red cable may alternatively be
connected to a line that only carries +12V while the ignition is turned on.
