An audio lead with cinch connectors (white = left channel,
black = right channel), is connected to the TUNER sockets of
the amplifier.
Antenna connection
In order to obtain radio signal, above all in the case of stereo
broadcasts, we recommend that the tuner be operated with a high-
grade outside antenna.
The VHF and AM antenna for medium and long wave is connected
to the antenna socket FM/AM 60/75 Q 16. In the case of antenna
systems without an AM antenna, a wire antenna with earth wire can
be connected to the socket AM 15. If you do not have an antenna
system, you can connect the enclosed auxiliary antenna to the
socket FM/AM
16. This will enable sufficient reception in many
cases.
Your trade retailer will be pleased to help you to find the most
suitable antenna system as well as the necessary antenna cables.
Connection to the AC mains
The unit can be operated with AC voltages of 110-125 V and
220-240 V and is set at the factory to 230 V.
Caution!
For safety reasons,
the mains voltage must only be
converted in a specialist workshop.
Commissioning
Switch the unit on by depressing the button power after connecting
the aerial, the AF line 17 to the amplifier and the power supply. The
display 6 lights up.
Selecting the station and waveband
Select the waveband by depressing the corresponding button:
FM (10) = 87,5-108 MHz VHF waveband
MW (11) = 520-1620 kHz medium waveband
LW (12) = 150-340 kHz long waveband
Depress the tuning up buttom 13 on the right until the desired
frequency appears in the display, if the desired station is transmit-
ting at a frequency higher than the indicated frequency. The tuning
(down) button 13 must be depressed on the left if the desired
station is transmitting at a frequency lower than the indicated
frequency.
The frequency can be changed in steps of 50 kHz (0,05 MHz) on
VHF, or in steps of 1 kHz on medium wave or long wave by briefly
depressing the tuning 13 button.
Use the fine tuning control for weak VHF stations or if strong signals
from a neighboring station are producing crosstalk. In this case the
button fm 10 must be depressed in addition to the tuning 13 button.
Tuning is then slowly carried out in steps of 12,5 kHz.
The exact transmission frequency of radio stations can be obtained
from radio and TV weeklies or from the enclosed list of transmitters.
Observe the LED display signal 4 and tuning 3 as well when tuning
in stations. The display signal 4 indicates the level of the input
signal. The stronger the signal the more LEDs light up. The green
LED on the display tuning 3 lights up when a VHF station has been
tuned in precisely.
The station tuned in when the unit is switched off is stored.
Scan/Station-scan
Your unit is capable of searching for stations from all 3 wavebands
itself by means of the station (scan) function, if the antenna voltage
from the stations received is adequate. Press the button scan (14)
in order to do this.
If the button scan (down) 14 is depressed on the left, the frequency
display moves
automatically to the next station with the lower
frequency and is stopped there. If you require the next station after
that, depress the button scan (down) again. Only depress the
button briefly in each case.
Depress the button scan (up) 14 on the right for stations transmit-
ting at a higher frequency than the station tuned in.
Programming the station buttons
15 separate VHF, medium
wave, or long wave stations can be
stored by depress'"g station buttons 2. Tune to the required station
manuelly for this purpose (see section
„selecting the station")
depress the button memory 5. (The flashing display shows that the
unit is ready for storing.) Next depress the corresponding station
button 2. If programming memory locations 9-15, press the two of
corresponding buttons simultaneously. The stored and tuned in
station is displayed on the digital display 6. If no station has been
stored after a few seconds
have passed, storage readiness is
automatically cancelled.
Once programmed, the stations programmed in this way can be
selected at any time pressing the corresponding station button. If
the button is depressed again the stored frequency is displayed for a
few seconds.
The unit can be switched over to manual tuning
automatically by depressing the button tuning 13.
A memory accumulator guarantees that the programmed stations
remain stored even during long periods of power failure or if the
mains plug is disconnected.
FM Stereo reception
The tuner is designed for the reception of stereo transmissions.
When tuned to a stereo transmission, and if the mono switch is not
pressed, the tuner is automatically switched over to stereo recep-
tion, and the stereo indicator lamp 7 is lit. If the mono switch 8 is
pressed the lamp is extinguished and the stereo transmission is
only received in mono. This type of operation is suitable for listening
to stereo transmission with high noise levels.
Muting
By pressing the muting key 9 noise appearing between stations
and weak stations are suppressed. Should you want to receive a
station with a very low antenna voltage then you must release the
muting key.
