SPECIFIC INFORMATION
833.010 ROLLEY and 833.020 DOUBLE ROLLEY category III personal protective equipment are:
- pulleys certified according to the relevant and applicable parts:
· of Regulation (EU) 2016/425
· of the technical standards EN 362:2004, EN 365:2004, EN 1909:2017, EN 12275:2013, EN 12278:2007,
EN 17109:2020 and on the basis of additional tests performed, not mentioned in the above standards,
agreed between the Notified Body and the manufacturer, suitable for sliding and evacuation along metal
cables up to 40 mm in diameter, horizontal and inclined, of ropeways intended for transport of persons;
- pulleys certified according to EN 12278:07, suitable for connecting a rope to a connector to reduce friction
when the rope moves under load;
- parts of a system for protection and/or prevention against falls from heights.
Usage of the pulley for sliding and evacuation along metal cables of ropeways.
Important:
- during evacuation operations, personnel must use appropriate personal protective equipment against falls
from height,
- the pulley does not require the participation of passengers to carry out the evacuation from the ropeway,
- rotational capacity tests were performed on a section of ø 41 mm stranded steel cable, 7 meters long, with
a maximum deflection of 225 mm, measured at the centreline of the section, to which a load of 5 kN (WLL)
was applied.
Warning: avoid using the pulley under more severe conditions than those tested: increased line deflection
may not guarantee the rotational capacity of the pulley.
Installation
Connect:
a) the pulley:
- to the harness (EN 361, EN 813 and EN 12277), using a lanyard and connector, equipped with a lever
locking device, inserted at the E1 attachment point (fig. 1),
- to the load-bearing cable: open the lever (D), insert the pulley on the cable, release the lever (D) and check
that it closes automatically and completely (fig. 2),
b) the restraint and speed regulation system RS (EN 12841-C) to the pulley through a connector, equipped
with a lever locking device, inserted at the E2 attachment point (Fig. 3).
Warning: the restraint and speed regulation system should only be operated by qualified and trained
personnel. The pulley is not equipped with other speed and direction control systems,
c) the safety line SL (EN 353-2, EN 355 or EN 12841-A) to the load-bearing cable, placing it upstream of the
pulley, and to the harness (fig. 4).
Before using the pulley, in a position of absolute safety, check:
- to be connected to the safety line (SL),
- to be connected to the restraint and speed regulation (RS) system,
- that the restraint and speed regulation (RS) system is operated by qualified and trained personnel,
- that the connectors are correctly positioned and have the lever closed and locked,
- that the pulley is correctly positioned on the cable by performing movements and suspension tests.
Important: when moving, particularly at points of discontinuity where it is necessary to remove the pulley
from the support rope and in evacuation manoeuvres, the user must always be connected in addition to the
safety line and the restraint system also to the SL2 structure (chair, tower, etc.) – (fig. 5). Only under such
conditions it is possible to remove the pulley from the carrying cable upstream of the chair/cabin and reconnect
it downstream.
Warning:
- the pulley/anchor point must always be positioned above the harness attachment point (fig. 5),
- do not move at speeds greater than 2 m/sec: danger of derailment and collision with potential obstacles,
- do not open the lever (D) with the load applied to the pulley,
- wear gloves and helmet, use lanyards (EN 354), accessory lanyards (EN 564) and webbing (EN 566) only
to connect to the pulley via attachment points (E).
Usage of the pulley (EN 12278)
Connecting the pulley:
- to the rope (fig. 2),
- to the attachment point (fig. 6).
Example of:
- correct use (fig. 7),
- incorrect and dangerous use (fig. 9).
Warning:
- by reducing the deflection of the rope/cable (increasing the angle α), the forces acting on the anchor points
increase exponentially (fig. 8),
- do not make promiscuous use of the pulley: if it has been used to lift, support and/or move materials, it
should not be used as Personal Protective Equipment,
- do not use the pulley on ropes tighter than 10 mm in diameter and on webbing: danger of jamming between
the pulley and the body of the pulley.
Compatibility
The pulley can be connected via:
- the sheave (B), to:
· metal ropes and cables up to 40 mm in diameter to slide and evacuation,
· ropes (EN 892, EN 1891) up to 13 mm in diameter for the uses provided for in EN 12278,
- attachment points (E), to:
· connectors (EN 362 and EN 12275),
· lanyards (EN 354),
· accessory lanyards (EN 564)
· webbing (EN 566).
Checks before and after use
Ensure that the pulley is:
- suitable for the intended use: avoid unintended uses or uses that are more burdensome than regulatory
requirements,
- in efficient condition and working properly, in particular, check that:
- the lever (D) when operated opens fully and when released closes automatically and fully,
- the sheaves (B) rotate freely,
- the pins (C) - screws and bolts - are tightened,
- the markings are legible,
- no deformation, cracks, wear, corrosion and oxidation are present.
It is recommended to periodically lubricate the moving parts with a moderate amount of silicone-based oil.
Certification
This device is certified by Notified Body No. 2008 - DOLOMITICERT scarl - Industrial Zone
Villanova 7/A - 32013 Longarone BL - Italy
