Before undertaking any work on the machine, pull out the power
plug. Before each use, inspect the power cable. A damaged power
cable must be replaced by a qualified professional.
Maintenance
A spare set of carbon brushes is
included with the machine. Regularly
check the condition of the carbon
brushes. If the brushes are worn
down so far that the spring cannot
press them against the collector,
replace them with the spare set. For
inspection or replacement, open the
carbon brush covers. If the carbon brushes are still fit for use, reinstall them in
the same position, so that no new break-in is required.
The worm drive is maintenance free and does not require additional
lubrication.
Cleaning
Make sure the ventilation louvers are always clean and free from debris. Never
immerse the machine in liquids of any kind. Use only a soft, moist cloth to
clean the machine. Do not use abrasives. The cutting dies should be cleaned
with a cloth and a brush. Apply a light coat of a non-gumming oil (oil for
weapons) after cleaning.
