Basics, Definitions

Prismatic binoculars are referred to with a combination of numbers, here 7 x 50.
The 7 indicates the Power of the glass, the 50 is the diameter of the front lens in
millimetres. This diameter determines how much light can enter the optical system, so it
is an important indicator for the brightness of the glass, especially in low light.
The performance of the glass under low light is indicated by the relative brightness. The
higher the relative brightness number the better the performance in low light.
The relative brightness can be calculated with this formula:
Relative Brightness =
In the case of these binoculars the relative brightness is approximately 18.7.
In these binoculars the low-light performance is further improved by a special red
coating, which increases the light transmittance of the front lenses.
The field of view is the width of the area observed in a distance of 1000m. From this the
field angle can be determined. The field of view for these binoculars is approximately
130m at 1000m.
The adjustable right eyepiece makes it possible to adjust the binoculars to the
peculiarities of the user's eyesight.
Use
The binoculars are equipped with a knurled central focusing wheel (4) which focuses
both eyepieces at the same time.
To adjust imbalances between the user's eyes the right eyepiece (3) can be adjusted
separately.
Adjusting the Eye base
Hold the binoculars in both hands and fold or unfold the barrels until your field of vision
is round and you see no ghost images.

Adjusting the Right Eyepiece

- Set the right eyepiece to 0 according to the dot on the marks on eye piece and barrel.
- Close your right eye and focus the binoculars with the central focusing wheel (4) until
you can see a sharp image with your left eye.
- Open your right eye and close your left eye. Now adjust the right eyepiece until you
can see a sharp image with your right eye. Memorize the position of the right
eyepiece for later use.
