• CORRECTLY TENSIONED CHAIN (FIG 19): The chain is correctly tensioned when the chain is taut but the can still be rotated
by hand.
• If chain is too tight, it will not rotate. Loosen the chain cover screw slightly and turn chain tensioning screw 1/4 turn anti-clock-
wise. Retighten chain cover screw securely.
Attaching the Shoulder Strap
Using the shoulder strap alleviates stress on your body and gives you greater control of the saw.
• Connect the latches on the shoulder harness to the harness connection points, Fig.6.
• Adjust the strap to a comfortable position.
Adding Bar and Chain Lubricant
It is essential to fill the oil tank before using the pole saw. Failure to do so will cause permanent damage to the saw.
• Only use oil designed for chainsaws or pole saws.
• The bar and chain lubricant level should be checked after every 20 minutes of use and refilled as needed.
• Use a funnel to simplify the operation.
• Remove the oil cap, Fig.9. Carefully pour the oil reservoir.
• Do not overfill the tank by observing the MAX marking on the Oil Level Indicator.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Starting and Stopping
Hold the saw as shown in Fig.11 and ensure that you are well away from anything that may contact the blade.
• Press and hold the On/Off trigger safety lock button, Fig.12.
• Press the On/Off trigger, Fig.13.
• To stop the motor, release the trigger to stop the pole saw. Upon release of the On/Off trigger, safety lock button will automat-
ically reset to the locked position.
Basic Cutting Guide
Follow the steps below to prevent damage to tree bark. Do not use a back-and-forth sawing motion.
• Apply light pressure only, forcing the cut can cause damage to the bar, chain or motor.
• Make a shallow first cut (1/4 of limb diameter) on the underside of the limb close to the main limb or trunk, Fig.14 (A).
• Make a second cut, Fig.14(B), from the top side of the limb outwards from the first cut. Continue the cut through the limb until
the limb separates from the tree. Be prepared to balance the weight of the tool when the limb falls.
• Make a final cut close to trunk. Fig.14 (C).
Failure to follow proper cutting procedures will result in the bar and chain becoming pinched or trapped in the limb. If this happens:
• Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
• If the limb can be reached from the ground, lift the limb while holding the saw. This should release the "pinch" and free the
saw.
• If the saw is still trapped, call a professional for assistance.
Chain Expansion/Contraction
During use the chain will become heated and expand. For continued safe operation it is essential to monitor chain tension when
using the saw for several cuts.
• The chain will be very hot – do not touch it without suitable heat resistant gloves.
• Stop the saw and remove the battery
• Check chain tension and if too loose:
• Slacken the chain cover knob slightly.
• Turn the chain tensioning screw clockwise until the chain is correctly tensioned.
• Tighten the chain cover knob again.
