• Push the set switch (4) in position „CLOCK" to lock the setting. The time appears in the
display.
The date must be adjusted when the rotary switch (1) is set to your home city,
e.g. „Paris".
Adjusting the 12-/24-hour format for the time
In 12 hour format, the time is displayed with 12 hours. In this format, the difference
between the first half of the day and the second half of the day is indicated by „PM" show-
ing in front of the time during the second half of the day.
In 24 hour format, the time is displayed with 24 hours. The indication „24HR" appears in
the display below the time.
Perform the adjustment when the device is in standard mode. The display shows the time
(not flashing).
Press the button YEAR/12/24 (7) to toggle the time between the 12 and 24 hour format.
Setting the local time
• Leave the rotary switch (1) at the home city setting. If the dial is shifted out of place and
is not in „home city" position, turn the rotary switch (1) to your „home city".
• Slide the set switch (4) to position „TIME". The time blinks in the display.
• The set buttons for the hours and minutes are on the back in the battery box. Adjust the
current time with these buttons.
• Using the button MONTH/HR (5) you can now set the hours.
When adjusting the hours, keep the daylight savings time function in mind. If the
time is set during the months in which daylight savings time applies, then sub-
tract one hour from the current time and set this time. After the time has been
finally completely set, activate the daylight savings time function by pressing the
button DST (8).
• Using the button DATE/MIN (6) you can now set the minutes.
Holding the button down accelerates the setting (quick setting).
• Push the set switch (4) in position „CLOCK" to lock the setting.
The local time must be adjusted when the rotary switch (1) is set to your home
city, e.g. „Paris".
Daylight savings time function (DST)
The travel alarm clock has a daylight savings time function (DST). Press the button DST (8)
to activate the daylight savings time function. The display „DSTS" or „DSTN"appears above
the local time and the world time if the daylight savings time function is activated. „DSTS"
means daylight savings time function for the Southern Hemisphere. „DSTN" means day-
light savings time function for the Northern Hemisphere. Whether „DSTS" or „DSTN"
appears (and which of them appears) depends on the city that has been set (rotary switch
(1)) and whether daylight savings time applies to this time zone.
Alarm function
The travel alarm clock has two different alarm functions:
• Local time alarm function: The alarm is triggered based on the display of the local time
at the set alarm time.
• World time alarm: The alarm is triggered based on the display of the world time at the set
alarm time.
If the alarm function has been activated, a beep goes off at the time set. The symbols
appear „
" and „Zz „ blink in the display. The alarm can be interrupted for 4 minutes
by tapping the button SNOOZE/LIGHT (2) (display cover). Then the alarm goes off again. If
the alarm is not ended manually, the device automatically interrupts the alarm after one
minute, then the alarm goes off again three times in five-minute intervals. To end the alarm
function, push the alarm switch (3) to the position „OFF".
Setting the time alarm
• Slide the set switch (4) to position „ALM". The alarm time will flash in the display.
• The set buttons for the alarm time are on the back in the battery box. Adjust the desired
alarm time with these buttons.
• Using the button MONTH/HR (5) you can now set the hours for the alarm time.
• Using the button DATE/MIN (6) you can now set the minutes for the alarm time.

• Push the set switch (4) in position „CLOCK" to lock the setting.

Activating the local time alarm function
• Push the alarm switch (3) into position „HOME". The symbols „
above the time, and „HOME" appears over the alarm time.
• The alarm sounds at the set time based on local time.
Activating the world time alarm function
• Push the alarm switch (3) into position „WORLD". The symbols „
appear above the world time, and „WORLD" appears over the alarm time.
• The alarm sounds at the set time based on world time.
Display lighting
Press the button SNOOZE/LIGHT (2). The display lighting switches on for three seconds.
The colour of the display lighting changes based on the world time. The display lighting is
blue during the first half of the day and orange during the second half of the day.
Torch function
Press and hold the button for the torch (9) to switch on the LED light of the travel alarm
clock.
Avoid looking straight into the source of light or shining it directly into the eyes
of persons or animals. The luminous intensity can damage eyesight.
Button lock
To prevent the settings from being erroneously changed, the device possesses a button
lock function. Put the alarm switch (3) in „LOCK" position. All buttons are now locked. To
unlock, the alarm switch (3) must be moved back to the desired position „OFF", „WORLD"
or „HOME".
RESET (reset to factory setting)
In case of electrostatic discharge or after a battery change, it may be possible that the
clock malfunctions (e.g. strange characters on the display). In this case, perform a RESET
(reset to factory settings). Press the RESET button with a pointed object, e.g. a toothpick.
The display goes off briefly and then reappears. All data set before are lost and must be set
again.
Maintenance, cleaning and servicing
The travel alarm clock is maintenance-free apart from changing the battery, therefore you
should never open it. If you do open it, the warranty will lapse. The outside of the device
should be cleaned with a clean dry cloth or brush only. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents
or chemical solutions which could damage the housing or the display or impair operation.
Disposal
When the appliance has reached the end of its product lifespan, dispose of it in
accordance with the current statutory regulations.
Disposal of flat batteries/accumulators
The end user is legally obliged (German battery law) to return all used batteries.
Disposal in household waste is prohibited. Batteries and rechargeable batte-
ries containing hazardous substances are marked with symbols indicating that
disposal in the household waste is prohibited. The codes for the heavy metals con-
cerned are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. You can return flat batte-
ries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to the collection points in your commu-
nity, our branches or anywhere else where batteries or rechargeable batteries are
sold.
You will thus carry out your legal obligations and contribute to the protection of our
environment.
