Rechargeable batteries are prone to self discharge in the course of time.
Thismeansthattheylosepartoftheircapacityevenifthevehicleisnot
switchedonatall.Atworstarechargeablebatterymayevenbesubjectto
deepdischarge.Inastateofdeepdischargearechargeablebatteryhaslost
somuchofitsenergythatitsmaterialshavedecomposed.Insuchacase,
itisnolongerpossibletorechargeit,itmayevenbedangeroustodoso.
Youshouldthereforerechargeyourvehicleseverysixmonths,andevery
twelvemonthsatthelatest,evenifyoudidnotusethem.

Whenever a rechargeable battery is charged without being completely
discharged,it"remembers"thatstate.Therechargeablebatterywillthus
loseaconsiderablepartofitscapacitywithtimeandtheperiodlastingup
totherequiredrechargingproceduredecreases.
Thus,alwaysmakesuretodischargethevehiclescompletelybeforechar-
gingthemagain.Wheneveravehiclegrowsnoticeablyslower,removethat
vehiclefromtheinstallation.Fullydischargethevehiclebyturningitupside
downandleavingitswitchedonuntilitswheelscometoastandstill.Then
charge the vehicle again completely, otherwise there is the risk of deep
dischargethatwoulddestroytherechargeablebattery.
Thesameappliestothechargingofthevehicle.Neverinterruptthechar-
gingprocedurepriortoitsend.Theprocessor-controlledchargingunitalways
monitorsthechargingprocedureandautomaticallystopsitwhentherechar-
geablebatteryisfullycharged.
