using your steam station
1 Place the steam station on the
support of the ironing board or any
other stable surface nearby with the
iron sitting on the iron rest. Make
sure that all the buttons are off, the
steam station is unplugged and that
the power and steam supply cords
are unrolled and not kinked.
2 Fit the cord support into the tank
and place the steam supply cord
into the hook on the other end. This
will keep the cord in an upright
position.
filling with water
1 Unscrew the water tank cap by
turning anticlockwise.
2 Use the funnel to fill the water tank –
take care not to overfill.
3 Refit the cap.
Filtered water is best as it reduces
limescale, prolonging the life of your
steam station (Kenwood water filters
are widely available). Alternatively
use tap water.
refilling the water tank
Model SS448 has a low water
indicating light which will glow when
the water tank requires filling.
NEVER UNSCREW THE WATER
TANK CAP AS LONG AS THE
BOILER IS UNDER PRESSURE.
1 Leave the iron switch on.
2 Turn off the tank switch.
3 Press the steam button to release all
remaining steam onto a cloth.
4 Turn the iron switch off
5 Unplug the appliance from the
power supply.
6 Carefully unscrew the water tank
cap.
7 Wait 2 to 3 minutes, then slowly fill
with warm water. Refit the water
tank cap.
8 Plug in the appliance, press the tank
switch and the iron switch and wait
for the orange control light to glow,
this indicates that the steam station
is ready for use.
choosing the right
temperature
Follow the clothes label advice.
Match the dots on the label to the
dots on the temperature control. If
there's no label, here's a guide on
which temperature to choose:
hints
Start on clothes needing the lowest
temperature, then work upwards.
(This lowers the risk of burning
something because an iron switched
from 'hot' to 'cool' takes time to
cool down.)
For mixed fibres, eg cotton
polyester , use the lowest suitable
temperature .
If in doubt, start with a low
temperature on a part that won't be
seen (eg a shirt tail).
