Installation Guide for Professional Handsfree Car Kit
VDA plug
Some cars are supplied with a pre-installed VDA plug
and installation for mobile phone. If so, connect this
plug directly to the HF box, and do not use the cable
supplied with the handsfree kit. If your car is fitted with
an active microphone you must replace this by a passive
microphone or use a microphone level converter cable
available from your Bosch dealer.
Wiring diagram
• Connect the RED wire (+ V) to the positive pole of the
car battery. Remember to insert the fuse included.
• Connect the BLACK wire (- V) to the negative pole of
the car battery.
• Connect the YELLOW/BLACK wire (Ignition sense) in
such a way that when ignition is on the input is +12V,
and when ignition is off the input is 0V. Do not connect
directly to the ignition coil terminal.
• Connect the VIOLET wire (Radio muting) to the car
radio's muting wire. During telephone conversation
the violet wire will connect to ground (max 100 mA)
and thereby mute the car radio loudspeakers. If the
radio does not have a built-in muting option the violet
wire can be used to operate a Stereo Mute Box (not
supplied with this kit).
The HF box also contains a 9-pin RS232 socket for fax
and data transmission. A cable (Type 1:1) is not included.
Handset cradle
When placing the handset cradle, please beware of the
safety of the driver as well as the passengers in case of
car accidents. Do not place the handset cradle too far
from the steering wheel. Also, do not install any items
in front of an airbag. Regulations on this point must be
followed very carefully.
External antenna
An external antenna must be connected, since the
handset antenna is disconnected when the phone is
placed in the cradle. External antenna is not included
in this handsfree kit.
Microphone and loudspeaker
The handsfree car kit uses digital signal processing (DSP)
technology, allowing full duplex conversation under
natural speech and sound level. In order to obtain
optimum performance, please observe:
• The handsfree microphone must be placed as close to
the driver's mouth as possible (30-35 cm) and pointing
directly to the mouth.
A typical placement is above the driver's door or at the
roof near the cabin ligth, where there might be a minmum
wind noise. It is not recommended to place the micro-
phone on the steering column or on the dashboard.
• The location of the speaker is less critical, but the
distance to the microphone should be more than 80 cm.
Do not place the speaker behind any lining as this might
reduce the speaker sound.
• Both the speaker and the microphone should be
firmly fastened to obtain the best sound quality.
• It is possible to mount the microphone in two ways:
You can either tape the microphone directly on the
surface, or you can mount the small plate with 2
screws and then tape the microphone on the plate.
• It is also possible to mount the loudspeaker in two
ways: You can either use the large mounting bracket
with 2 screws and then click the loudspeaker into the
bracket, or you can use the small bracket which is
already attached to the speaker. The speaker can be
placed horizontally or vertically with both brackets.
With the small bracket it is possible to turn the speaker
in any angle required.
