Prolonged use makes the sharp edges of the knives dull
and round. Regrinding restores the sharp edges; here
the actual angle is less important than having a
continuous, even edge.
Regrinding Cutter Bars
Place the hedge trimmer on a solid, even surface. On
most hedge trimmers only the moving (top) blade is
sharp and the stationary (bottom) blade is only a sharp-
edged stamping.
Clamp the sharpener into the chuck of an electric drill or
an electric screwdriver. The sharpener id designed to
work at around 3000 rpm.
1. Place the rotating sharpener from above onto the
mobile knife in a right angle.
2. Trim the edge in a single, flowing motion from the
middle outwards. Be careful to keep a uniform angle.
The actual angle is less important than the fact that
the angle should be uniform and the edge straight.
3. After all teeth of the mobile knife have been ground,
please check whether the edges of the stationary
knife are still sufficiently sharp. If the stationary knife
is worn out as well, grind it to a right angle as well.
