Highpower LED Torch,
focusable
Item-No. 57 55 80
Intended use
The torch is intended to be used as a mobile light source. A highly luminous Cree LED serves
as the light source. The product is splash-proof (IPX4) and is suitable for outdoor use.
The device is designed for battery operation only. Do not use anyother power source. The cor-
rect battery type is specified in the „Technical data" section.
Use of this device in any other way than as described above is not permitted. The safety instruc-
tions must be observed at all times!
This product complies with the applicable National and European requirements.
Safety instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting dam-
age.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty
will be void in such cases.
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifica-
tions to the product are not permitted.
• The torch is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Do not expose the torch to high temperatures, extreme damp or strong vibrations.
The torch is not suitable for use in or under water.
• Caution, LED light: Do not look into the LED light ray! Do not look at it directly or
with optical instruments! Danger of damage to eyes!
Do not point the light beam directly at people or animals! Do not point the light
beam at mirrors or other reflective surfaces. The uncontrolled, reflected beam
may strike people or animals.
• Do not leave the packing material lying around, as it can be a dangerous toy for
a child! Danger of suffocation!
• If you have any questions that are not answered in this instruction manual, please
contact our technical support centre or consult a professional.
Notes on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries away from children.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay
attention to the plus and minus!).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by chil-
dren or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Make sure that batteries/echargeable batteries are not short-circuited, opened or thrown into
fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Chemical liquid may leak out of spent or overaged batteries, which may damage the device. If
not used for a longer period (e.g. in case of storage), remove the inserted batteries/rechar-
gable batteries.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause irritation when in contact with
skintherefore use suitable protective glovesin that case.
• Only use a battery/rechargable battery of the correct size and the recommended type.
Inserting/replacing the batteries
Instead of non-rechargable batteries, rechargable NiMH batteries can be used.
Due to a lower voltage and capacity, they have reduced efficacy and service life.
If you want to use rechargable NiMH batteries, we recommend the use of special
NiMH batteries with low self-discharge.
However, for optimal efficacy and service life, you should only use high-quality alka-
line batteries.
• Unscrew the lock located behind the torch shaft.

• Insert two new batteries in the shaft minding the correct polarity; the positive pole (+) must
point towards the reflector, the negative pole (-) towards the closing.
• Screw the lock on to the torch shaft again. Make sure the gasket is seated correctly.
Version 11/09
• The batteries are depleated when the torch's light fades or the torch no longer lights up and
°
they have to be replaced as described above.
Operation
a) Switching on/off, selecting light intensity levels
The torch is switched on or off by pressing the button on the shaft end.
Light intensity level 1: Bright light, but higher power consumption, reduces lighting duration
Light intensity level 2: Weaker light, low power consumption, longer lighting duration
b) Focussing the light beam
By turning the reflector at the front end of the torch, the light beam can be focused (pointed light
for longer distances, or flat light for shorter distances).
Maintenance and cleaning
Apart from replacing the batteries, the torch is maintenance-free. The surface of the device
should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth or a dry brush.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the sur-
face of the casing or impair the operation.
Disposal
a) In general
b) Disposal of spent batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!

As a special feature, two different light intensities can be selected.
To switch between both light intensity levels, simply switch the torch off and on
again. Then the torch is lit in the other light intensity, respectively.
Make sure that the reflector is not turned too much, as this inscrews the reflector
from the torch. Moisture or dirt may get into the torch!
When disposing of an unserviceable product, do so in line with the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols
to indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for the
relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead. You can
dispose of your used batteries free of charge at your community's collection point
or any place where batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the
environment!
