• Insert the batteries into the slots in the battery box. Ensure that the positive terminals point
upwards to avoid damaging the batteries. The slots for different battery types are shown in
the diagram.
- 9 V block batteries
- Button cells
- Batteries types/sizes: AA, AAA, C and D.
• The box can hold the following batteries:
- D: Max. 8
- C: Max. 10
- 9 V (block): Max. 9
- AA: Max. 26
- AAA: Max. 10
- CR: Max. 6
- AG: Max. 3
b) Testing the battery voltage
• Remove the battery tester from its holder in the battery box.
• Place the battery that you want to test into the battery tester (observe the plus/+ and
minus/- markings on the tester). The clamp on the positive terminal (+) moves in order to
accommodate batteries of different sizes.
• Refer to the table below for details on which port to use.
PORT A
3 V button cells CR927, CR1025, CR1216, CR1220, CR1225, CR1616,
CR1620, CR1632, CR 2012, CR 2016, CR 2025, CR2032
PORT B
1.5 V button cells AG13, LR44, SR44
1.5 V zinc–carbon or alkaline batteries AA, AAA, C, D
1.2 V rechargeable batteries AA, AAA, C, D
PORT C
9 V block battery / 8.4 V rechargeable block battery
• The battery status is indicated by the LEDs on the tester:
- Sufficient battery level – all three LEDs (red, yellow, green).
- Low battery level – two LEDs (red and yellow).
- Very low battery level (replace/charge the battery) – one LED (red). The battery is almost
empty.
- Empty battery – No LEDs on. Charge or discard the battery as appropriate.
The green LED does not usually turn on when rechargeable batteries are inserted,
because the battery voltage of rechargeable batteries (1.2 V) is lower than new
disposable batteries (1.5 V). The battery tester therefore displays a slightly
lower remaining battery level for rechargeable batteries. The typical voltage for
rechargeable block batteries batteries is 8.4 V. The green LED will turn on when the
battery is fully charged, but the brightness will be lower than for disposable 9V block
batteries.
Maintenance and cleaning
• Remove the battery before cleaning the battery tester.
• Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these could
damage the casing or even impair the functioning of the product.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the box and battery tester. Use a long-haired brush to
remove dust in the battery slots.

Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to
the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them separately from
the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries/rechargeable batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is
prohibited.
Batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with this symbol to indicate
that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The abbreviations for heavy metals
in batteries are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on (rechargeable)
batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality,
our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
