Functional Description

The power supply is intended to be used on the mains voltage (see section "Technical data").
The power supply converts this mains voltage into the internal direct current required by the PC
(+3.3 V, +5 V, +12 V, -12 V, +5 V standby).
A built-in fan conducts excess heat generated during this conversion out of the computer.
The power supply can be switched on and off via the power switch.
However, the computer does not start when the power switch is switched on. Ini-
tially, both the power supply and the connected motherboard are in the so-called
"standby" mode. To start the computer, briefly press the power button on the front of
your PC housing. The button must be connected via a cable to the corresponding
connection on your motherboard (e.g. "ATX power" connection or similar; see the
instructions for the motherboard).
When the computer is switched off using the power button, stand-by voltage (+5 V standby line
of the power supply) is still present on the motherboard.
This is needed, for example, to turn on the computer via keyboard or mouse (if the BIOS of your
computer provides for this option).
Therefore, if you wish to work inside the computer (e.g. to install a new plug-in card),
always switch off the power supply unit first using the mains power switch; then re-
move it from the mains voltage. Always pull the mains plug out of the mains socket!
Otherwise, the motherboard as well as other components could be damaged!

Installation

If you do not have the expertise to perform the installation, please arrange for the
installation to be carried out by an expert or a suitable specialist shop!
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the Power Adaptor, your computer and all
connected devices. Furthermore, there are dangers involved such as short circuit,
electrical shock or the risk of fire.
Switch off the computer in which the Power Adaptor is to be installed and all con-
nected devices. Isolate all devices from the mains voltage and unplug the mains
plug! Just switching off at the mains switch is not sufficient!
• Open your computer's housing and carefully remove the cover.
• If the power supply is to be used, for example, to replace an old, defective power supply, remove
the existing power supply first. First of all, disconnect all connecting plugs from the motherboard
and the installed devices. Then remove any cable ties that may be present.
• Grip the old power supply tightly and remove all the retaining screws from the power supply
so that it can be removed from the housing.
• Screw the new power supply into place in the housing with 4 screws (inch thread, max. screw
length ca. 5 mm).
• Connect to the motherboard with the broad ATX power plug (do not use force! The connector
must be easy to plug in and then lock in place). Depending on your motherboard (20 or 24
pin. socket), a 4-pin segment can be removed from the 24-pin ATX connector of the power
supply. However, the latter must not be used for sockets other than motherboards!
• A 4-pin connector on the motherboard serves to provide the 12 V supply voltage to supply
the voltage regulators on the CPU. However, never connect the above-mentioned 4-pin plug,
removed from the 24-pin ATX connector, here; instead, use the separate 4-pin ATX connector
of the power supply intended for this purpose (connector with 2 yellow and 2 black cables).
• Connect all devices in the PC housing to the corresponding power plugs, e.g. hard drive,
DVD burner, graphics card, etc. (the 6-pin plug for a graphics card is labelled "PCI-E"). Do
not use any force when connecting!
• Install all of the cables neatly in straight lines, ensuring that the cables are not squeezed or
damaged in any way. Protect the cables from sharp edges inside the housing. Make sure that
they do not get into the computer's fan. To secure the cables in the housing, use e.g. suitable
cable ties.
• Check the following points: Is the power button on the front of your ATX housing connected
to the appropriate port on the motherboard?
Switching on via the mains switch does not result in the computer being switched
on (this may be changed via the BIOS setting); see section "Description of Func-
tion". As a rule, after you switch on the power supply via its mains switch, you still
need to press a power button on your PC housing so that the power supply and the
computer start.
• Close the computer housing and re-connect the computer to all other devices, cables and
accessories.
• Now, connect the computer to the mains voltage and switch on the power supply via the
mains switch on the rear of the power supply (switch setting "I").
Normally, the computer will not start up immediately. Briefly press the power button
on your PC housing to switch the computer on.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all the settings
and cable connections.
Before you open the housing to check, remember to switch off all devices and remove them
from the mains voltage. Pull out the mains power plug.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any
reason. There are no serviceable parts inside.
Servicing or repairs and any associated opening of the power supply may be carried out only
by a specialist or a specialist workshop.
The fuse that is installed in the power supply can be replaced only by using a special tool. This
is why you should not try to replace the fuse yourself, but leave it to an expert or a specialized
workshop.
For cleaning, clearing out the openings of the power supply with a vacuum and freeing them
from dust deposits is sufficient. However, before doing so, switch off the power supply and
disconnect it from the mains voltage (unplug it).
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices must not be disposed of as domestic waste!
Please dispose of the product when it is no longer of use according to current statu-
tory requirements.
