6. Connecting the Headset Switch

Please insert high-quality alkaline batteries before beginning. See the chapter inserting batteries.
To adjust the HA-2710 to the telephone, first ensure normal receiver mode using the HA-2710. Insert
the spiral cable of the receiver in the jack with the receiver symbol (the centre of the three RJ-9
jacks on the back).
Connect the headset switch to the receiver jack of the telephone using the RJ-9 cable provided.
Use the jack with the telephone symbol.
The switch on the top must be pushed to the left position (receiver symbol) for receiver mode.
Simply make a telephone call to ensure it functions properly.
During receiver operation, the signal is simply connected.## The control settings remain disregarded.
Install the DECT cordless telephone at least 1 meter away to avoid electrical noise.
Adjusting to the Telephone:
Connect the Hama headset provided to the 3.5 jack plug on the back of the HA-2710. Both the micro-
phone and earpiece cable have a small symbol on the plug. Please note them when connecting!
Then press the switch on the back from the receiver position to the headset position.
Rotate the reception volume (right top control) to about the middle setting, set the MIC control
(left lower control) to the lower third.##
Push the "On/Auto" switch on the back to the "Auto" position. If the MIC is adjusted correctly, the
HA-2710 switches on automatically. The correct adjustment is achieved by gradually switching both
of the left "Telephone" adjustment switches on the back as follows:
Set the adjustment switch with the "Telephone" symbol step-by-step from level 1 to 7 and at each
position push the adjacent "Pol" switch back and forth between "A" and "B".
When the MIC connection of the telephone is adjusted correctly, the LED in the MUTE key lights up
(when the MUTE function is activated, the LED blinks).
(Whistling noise may be present during the adjustment process)
Several suitable MIC settings may have been found.##
For this reason, select the suitable receiver position (1 to 7) by performing a hearing test with a per-
son on the phone. Please carefully turn each MIC and headset volume control to evaluate each
adjustment setting accordingly. This process takes a few minutes even for experienced users.
Now you can adjust the headset using the RJ-9 connection. Proceed exactly as when performing
the adjustment on the telephone and if necessary, disconnect the headset from the 3.5mm jack. Do
not move the "Telephone" adjustment switch. Push the 7 step "Headset" adjustment switch on the
back step-by-step from 1 to 7 and at each step, move the "Pol" switch from A to B while you perform
the hearing test with the person on the phone. (Whistling noise may be present during the adjust-
ment process)
Note: MICs with reverse polarity usually function, however, are considerably too quiet or distorted.
Please carefully check the speech quality, ideally with someone who is familiar with your voice.
This process takes a few minutes even for experienced users.
