(2) Install the shimming gauge, drive
shaft, drive shaft bearing 1, and pin-
ion shim(s) 2.

NOTE:
If the original shim(s) is unavailable, start
with a 0.50 mm shim.
(3) Install the pinion and pinion nut.
Pinion nut
50 Nm (5.0 m • kgf, 36 ft • lb)
(4) Measure the specified measurement
(M).
NOTE:
• Measure the clearance between the shim-
ming gauge and the lower surface of the
pinion as shown.
• Perform the same measurement at three
points on the pinion.
• Find the average of the measurements
(M).
