WARNING
The cable joint must be screwed in more
than 8 mm (0.31 in).
Connect the cable joint and tighten the
G
locknut.
Locknut:
6 N • m (0.6 kgf • m, 4.3 ft • lb)
NOTE:
If the steering cable cannot be properly
adjusted by the cable joint at the steering
master end, adjust the cable joint at the jet
pump end so that the same clearances a
and b are obtained. Refer to "REMOTE
CONTROL CABLES AND SPEED SENSOR
LEAD" in Chapter 8.

Throttle cable inspection and adjustment

NOTE:
Before adjusting the throttle lever free play,
adjust the trolling speed.
1. Measure:
Throttle lever free play a
G
Out of specification → Adjust.
Throttle lever free play:
4–7 mm (0.16–0.28 in)
2. Adjust:
Throttle lever free play
G
Adjustment steps:
Remove the handlebar cover.
G
Loosen the locknut 1.
G
Turn the adjuster 2 in or out until the
G
specified free play is obtained.
