Wireless Remote Control
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior to
installation and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
The LED controller CU-20R is used for controlling RGB
LED strips. It is operated by wireless control (868 MHz)
via the remote control CU-20T. Two control zones are
available. Multiple controllers can be assigned to the
zones as desired. Thus, all controllers can be controlled
via a single remote control, either separately according
to zones or jointly. A wall holder is supplied with the
remote control.
1.1 Conformity and approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the units CU-20R and CU-20T are in accordance with
the basic requirements and the other relevant regula-
tions of the directive 1999 / 5 / EC. The declarations of
conformity are available on request from MONACOR
INTERNATIONAL. The units are licence-free and gen-
erally approved for operation in EU and EFTA countries.
2 Important Notes
The units (controller and remote control) correspond to
all relevant directives of the EU and are therefore
marked with
.
G
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity and heat (admissible ambient temperature
range: 0 – 40 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use water
or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability for
any resulting personal damage will be accepted if the
units are used for other purposes than originally
intended, if they are not correctly connected or oper-
ated, if they are overloaded, or if they are not repaired
in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of operation defin-
itively, take them to a local recycling plant for a
disposal which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.
3 Installing the Controller
1) Fasten the controller with screws at a suitable place.
Unscrew the covers of the terminals and connect the
controller according to the figure below.
2) Connect an LED strip (or multiple LED strips in par-
allel) to the terminals OUTPUT. Observe the correct
polarity.
RED -
= negative pole, red
GREEN - = negative pole, green
BLUE -
= negative pole, blue
Connect the positive pole of the LED strip to a termi-
nal +.
Attention: The load at each colour output must not
exceed 5 A!
3) Connect a regulated power supply unit to the termi-
nals INPUT. Set the power supply unit to the operat-
ing voltage of the LEDs connected (12 V min., 36 V
max.). The power supply unit must be able to supply
the current required for operating the LEDs plus a
supply current of 80 mA for the controller.
4) Replace the covers.

4 Recharging the Battery
of the Remote Control
For power supply, a rechargeable lithium battery has
been integrated into the remote control. Recharge this
battery when the power LED (3) briefly lights up every
second while the remote control is on standby (chap-
ter 6) or when it is no longer possible to switch on the
remote control with the button
Connect the mini USB port (13) via the USB cable
provided to a USB port of a computer or to a power
supply unit with USB port (e. g. PSS-1005USB from
MONACOR). The charge LED (12) will light up. When
the LED is extinguished, the battery has been recharged.
Then disconnect the remote control from the computer or
from the power supply unit.
5 Assigning the Controller to a Control Zone
For operation, assign the controller to a zone button
(10). When two controllers are used, each controller
may be assigned to a different zone and thus be con-
trolled separately. However, it is also possible to assign
multiple controllers to the same zone and to control them
in sync.
1) Press the button
trol. Then press the subsequent buttons in rapid suc-
cession [as long as the power LED (3) lights up].
2) On the controller, briefly press the button LEARNING
KEY (2) using a thin object.
3) Press the zone button (10) to select the zone to which
the controller is to be assigned.
4) Touch the colour ring (5). The STATUS LED (1) will
flash a few times as a confirmation.
5) If a second controller is used, repeat this process;
however, press the other zone button.
6) To assign multiple controllers to the same zone, re-
peat the process for each additional controller.
Important: On one of the controllers, press one of
the buttons S- / S+ (8) or B- / B+ (9) instead of the
colour ring. This controller will then operate as a mas-
ter controller: In case of automatic change of colour,
it will synchronize all controllers of the same zone.
This is the only way to ensure that all controllers will
change to the same colour at the same time.
7) To cancel the assignment for a controller, keep the
button LEARNING KEY pressed until the STATUS
LED is extinguished. Now the controller may be as-
signed to a different zone.
6 Operation
1) To switch on all LEDs, press the button
power LED (3) will light up. If the remote control is not
operated for approx. 10 seconds, it will go on standby
and the LED will be extinguished. To reactivate the
remote control, press the button
2) To control the LEDs of a zone, select the desired zone
with the zone button (10). To control both zones to-
gether, press the two zone buttons in rapid succes-
sion.
3) To reduce or increase the brightness in 8 steps, press
the buttons B- or B+ (9) repeatedly.
4) To set the lighting colour, touch the colour ring (5) or
slide your finger along the ring. When you briefly
press the button , three different shades of white will
be called up in succession.
5) For automatic change of colour, press the button
To set the speed for the change of colour (10 steps),
press the button S- or S+ (8) repeatedly. To stop or
continue the change of colour, press the button II (7).
